Weekend of STAR WARS™ Fun: May 2-4

CINCINNATI (May 1, 2014) – May the Force be with you as Reds fans journey to a galaxy far, far away for a weekend full of STAR WARS™ fun and excitement. The ballpark will come alive with characters and music from the iconic film series as the Reds look to prove themselves as Jedi Masters against the Brewers.

All weekend long, characters will be at the ballpark. Among the characters scheduled to appear are Darth Vader, Chewbacca, Luke Skywalker, Anakin Skywalker and Stormtroopers.

Friday, May 2, 2014 – Cincinnati Reds vs. Milwaukee Brewers, 7:10 p.m.
• Darth Vader will throw out a ceremonial first pitch prior to the game.
• Tonight’s Rozzi’s post-game fireworks show soundtrack features music from the entire STAR WARS™ saga and will start approximately 15 minutes after the end of the game. Presented by Frisch’s Big Boy.
• #RedsSocial Night: Fans of the Reds on social media can purchase a special ticket package that includes a Field Box ticket and exclusive STAR WARS™ mug for just $30, presented by Cincinnati.com. STAR WARS™ characters also will be seated in this section during the game. Tickets available at reds.com/RedsSocial.

Saturday, May 3, 2014 – Cincinnati Reds vs. Milwaukee Brewers, 7:10 p.m.

That video announcement was pretty funny.

Phillips batting in the #3 spot just isn't working. Not sure what I would do about it, though, because Bruce isn't hitting well for average behind him either.

Not a fan of pulling Pena out of a struggling lineup. Especially against the division leaders.

Nice to see us revert to our usual 1st inning routine of getting men in scoring position and not converting. Granted, we nearly put up an inning but Votto got robbed.

The way Homer has pitched so far this year, he doesn't need to be arbitrarily putting guys on base.

This is becomming the BAD LUCK season. Numerous Injuries and 1 run losses...maybe this is pay back for the season none of our starting pitchers missed a start. Sigh...

I don't know what that last bit means, but there is a difference between being excited and screaming angrily at the player that hit the ball while pointing at him aggressively.

I just don't see the big deal with that play. He jumped straight up in the air, it was right at the fence.

As far as the steak, it was a joke. As far as Gomez, I didn't see a problem with it, neither did Votto. I'm all for putting a FB in a guys ribs when need be, this isn't that time for me.

I wouldn't be entirely surprised if the Brewers manager and team would not think Gomez would deserve a bean ball for crap like that.

1-0 Brewers. Billy dove and made a spectacular catch on the first play of the game. Landed hard on his wrist & side. Wrist hurting and looked like the wind got knocked out of him. He stayed in the rest of that half inning, but pulled once he reached the dugout for Heisey.

Homer has been bad in spots this season without question but tonight he was pitching his ass off and had a great start. He was extremely unlucky in that inning. I know people are sick of hearing that but that doesn't mean it is untrue. Offense and bullpen need to pick him up.

I don't think we are piling on Homer, I know I am not. It is definitely frustrating, Homer pitches a great game, gets a lead and immediately loses it. It's probably mostly just bad luck, but man, enough is enough.

Look at his FB/HR rate. Look at his BABIP against numbers. Look at his BA against. Look at the low number of GIDP's. Look at his GB rate and the lack of GB outs.

No, it's not all bad luck. He's definitely had some bad games and thrown some bad pitches. But every mistake he makes gets taken advantage of...that doesn't happen usually.
