Reds Red Sox

Schumaker 8, Pedroia 2B
Votto 3, Victorino RF
Phillips 4, Ortiz DH
Frazier 5, Napoli 1B
Pena 2, Sizemore LF
Ludwick DH, Pierzynski C,
Bernadina 9, Bradley Jr. CF
Heisey 7, Middlebrooks 3B
Cozart 6, Herrera SS

Mike Leake, RHP (2-3, 3.53 ERA) vs Jake Peavy, RHP (1-1, 2.87 ERA)

Jake Peavy gets the start on the mound for the Red Sox. Peavy allowed just two runs over 6 1/3 innings in his last outing, but he struggled with command, issuing a season-high five walks in a 2-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays.

With Luddy as DH, helps justify it a bit. Really, really missing a big bat off the bench that can DH in games like this, and serve as a PH threat in close games.

I wasn't knocking the Sox. Ever since Pete Rose; hustling, scrappy players are a borderline fetish of Cincinnatians. It tends to show up most in the form of the over 40, white, conservative fan who loves scrappy players that don't showboat. Secretly, this means white guys.

Reds announcer Thom Brennamen going on about some of the fiery guys on the Red Sox and that sometimes less productive guys still bring something to the club by being passionate.
I wasn't knocking the Sox. Ever since Pete Rose; hustling, scrappy players are a borderline fetish of Cincinnatians. It tends to show up most in the form of the over 40, white, conservative fan who loves scrappy players that don't showboat. Secretly, this means white guys.
It's a pet peeve of mine.
