Solid lineup today, although I'd almost favor batting Cozart ahead of Bernadina.

As an aside, I'm not sure if there are any "simulation" fans of baseball out there as far as PC games go, but I recently bought "Out of the Park Baseball 15" from Steam and it's awesome. You get to be GM with tons of customization of real teams and can manage games. It's been quite a challenge handling the Reds organization so far because, like in real life, you start the season with 5-7 guys on the DL. I had to edit a few of the stats, though, because Brayan Pena's suck. Anyway, not sure if people had heard of it or whatever, but I'm having a blast with it in my spare time.

I really want to know what's going on with Marshall. Are they just being careful getting him back into games since he's coming off the injury or are there nagging questions about his health? It seems like he's being treated as a very fragile commodity.

At least we don't Have Don Mattingly as a manager. His lineup vs SF today does not included Andre Ethier who has the best triple slashline vs. Cain than any batter vs. any active pitcher active in MLB. 30 for 70 429/.449/.557. Mattingly "that was years ago, Crawford is our hottest hitter."

Dramatic overstatement. Yes, he wasn't going to have a sub-2.00 ERA, true. But to say he's not a starter is way premature. He had a bad game. Bronson Arroyo was certainly a starter and each year got knocked out a few times.

Simon will have more starts and we'll see how he holds up. I'm not giving up on him due to one bad outing.

I'll clarify. He's not a good starter. He got off to a good start and had quite a few lucky breaks go his way. But he's no where CLOSE to as good as his ERA and record suggested.

And I'm not giving up on him either. He's a reliever. A good one, but a bullpenner.

Agreed. But getting healthy cures a LOT of problems. We're missing Hamilton, Bruce, Mesoraco from the offense. That's a bunch right there. We're missing Latos and Simon from the rotation & pen.

True dat.

But the jury is still out on Mes being a 4-5 spot bat. If he can do that, great. But they need some thump other than Votto and Bruce.

Based on Price's comments about Cozart, I fear that both he and Jocketty really believe he will turn it around.

Just like Jocketty talked about Janish just needing to relax and play the game he can (paraphrasing). Delusional thinking.

No, Hoover was excellent. It was all the umps fault. He kept squeezing him and squeezing him. It was a total joke. Simple pop ups and the ump calls them HR's. Wouldn't even allow a review for cryin' out loud. I feel bad for JJ, I've never seen a guy get screwed by the ump like that.

Just 2 years ago Marshall was considered one of the best relievers in baseball. That last inning he was sitting at 85 on his fastball. I really wish one of the beat writers would ask some hard questions about Marshall, his stuff and how he's been used. But, with Fay and C. Trent I doubt they will.

He hit 89 tonight. IIRC his fastball was normally right between 88 and 91 anyway. I don't see anything to be concerned about.

I don't ever recall his FB being anything more than Leake's. His curveball is his money pitch anyway.
