Also: Day 6 of no Votto - If it gets to 10 Walt should be fired immediately for playing a man short for 10 whole days.

"He's got just a little bit of discomfort in the top of his quad," Reds manager Bryan Price said of Ludwick. "It's enough where we didn't want to run him around in the outfield. He hit yesterday, he could have played yesterday, he could have played today. That being said, we don't want to have him out there somewhat hobbled trying to battle his way through that game. We felt better that we use him off the bench, we have guys who are 100 percent healthy that can go out there and play and we'll take a look tomorrow and see how he's feeling."

NVM - I was going to post something snarky, but just saw Votto went on the DL and I am upset with Walt at this point. Play a man down for 6 days and THEN put Joey on the DL, sheesh.

Lots of teams would have waited to see if they could get Votto back soon.

When they thought it was going to be worse, they did get Lutz to Philadelphia, but didn't activate him when Votto wasn't as serious as feared.

I think this move was able to happen, or came about really, with the timing of Bruce being able and Ludwick coming up lame.

Another move could happen by Friday really.

They really need to flop Lutz and Soto so they can stop having catchers or other out of position players or Soto play first base.

I keep telling people that if they can hover around .500 till they get healthy, this team can make some noise.

But that hovering part is a wing and a prayer these days. Some pretty awful lineups getting put out there. Plus the Reds seem to be playing with a perpetually short roster with hurt guys getting carried along.

Watch, we'll be lucky to get another inning out of Simon ... and we just allowed him to hit with a runner in scoring position and two outs in a one-run game. Amazing.

I guess Price was REALLY impressed with that double from Simon earlier in the game.

Today pointed out a problem with the replay system.

Both challenges were correct in that the call on the field was wrong. Both had video evidence proving that the calls were wrong. The NY ump decided that the evidence on the first play wasn't clear and convincing, but that it was clear and convincing on the second one.

If the first one didn't have clear and convincing evidence, than the second one didn't as well. If the second had clear and convincing evidence, that the first one did as well. The evidence on two plays were identical, in terms of being clear and convincing.

This "clear and convincing" element has been far from clear and convincing so far, in how it's been applied. That really needs to be addressed.

Don't even bother with a sump pump alarm

Instead, have a plumber put a water-backup in. It runs on water pressure instead of electricity, so if the electric goes out or pump just fails you won't have to worry about the battery being good on the alarm. The water backup will keep the water down until you can get the main pump replaced.

For the electric sump pump I would recommend a Zoeller. This one in particular: http://www.faucetdepot.com/faucetdepot/ProductDetail.asp?Product=28725&AffiliateID=GoogleDirectFeed&gclid=CjgKEAjwwPabBRCXo46OtM_RhGMSJACgCeqAE0Jslxck OGxSx5PqgjbujImKW9N3EM4uZKznsNR-9vD_BwE

The Zoeller pump has all stainless steel parts and it is just really reliable. My father (a plumber) has been installing these in homes for many years and swears by them. They are a little more expensive than pumps you will find at Lowe's or Home Depot but it is well worth the money. They also have a 3 year warranty. It is the rolls royce of pumps.

If you have any more questions, please ask.

I haven't had that option all year. No clue why. I loved that audio overlay feature. There used to also be a "ballpark sounds" option...but that might've just been during the playoffs.

When you go to the page that lists all the games for the day there is a button that says Access Audio Overlay with NextDef plugin. You have click on that and then go to the game to get access to audio overlay of radio or ball park sounds. I know it took me a bit to figure out what to do this year. I didn't see any announcement about the changes.

So I was watching the game with my dad in the bottom of the ninth. Called strike, right at the top of the strike zone and Espinosa showed his disagreement pretty visibly. My dad turned to me and said, "I'll bet you anything close from here on out is a strike." Sure enough, he got punched out, caught looking on one that looked close, but outside. Game over.

The day before, my brother was with him and watching the Nationals pitcher, he said something like, "this guy's been leaving the ball up here. Let's see if someone doesn't take him long." Next pitch (seriously) was a home run.

Love watching baseball with my dad. He's had a tough week, but baseball has been there for him in these difficult days.
