Price from last night's game recap.

"We've had our team meeting, we've had our dugout chat, we've had that stuff, what I think we need to do is to go out there and play better baseball," Price said. "I realistically feel if you have to go out there and constantly motivate the players to play the game well, you've got the wrong players. I don't feel like we do. I feel like we have good players, I have not lost confidence in the dynamics of our lineup or our ability to do things. We definitely stronger performances and we need some guys to step up and perform to their level, if not we're going to be playing really low-scoring games or in this case, when games get away from us, not have the ability to fight back."

He said the PC stuff after the portion I bolded, but sounds like Price has had enough with some of these guys.

Yay more of the dynamic due of cozart and Santiago.

I don't think the Reds have any leaders on this team. It needs to be an everyday player and not someone like Schumaker. Price is doing the right thing by showing he still has confidence in this team but if they continue to struggle then you could see some major changes in the off season.

Against a righty Price cannot take Bruce out of the clean up spot. Until Votto comes back, then he can do so to "break up the lefties" if Votto hits third. But now, he can't.

It would be a huge vote of non-confidence to take Bruce out of the clean up spot against a righty. Bruce is coming back from injury, he hasn't done well, but there are some things you just don't do.

What I don't favor today is playing Santiago at third and Frazier at first.

If you want Santiago to get a couple of games, rest Cozart.

If you want to rest Pena at first base, play Lutz against a righty. Play him at first.

Frazier at first, Santiago at third hasn't looked good defensively, no reason to keep pushing that button IMO.

I don't have an issue with Santiago playing today. He has faced Hernandez a lot and has done fairly well against him. I agree with you on putting Santiago at SS and playing Lutz at 1B. Would like to know the reasoning behind it.

If Bruce needs the manager's confidence to get going......

I'm really sick of the Reds managers going out of their way to keep the big guys happy. Don't wanna hurt anyone's feelings. God forbid Price not bat Bruce 4th against a righty. Lol

Wonder if Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier and Carl Crawford feel sorry for him.

I am sorry but is this Phillis pitcher a LHP? IF not why would you not finally give Lutz a start.

His excuses for not doing so....is that every time he thinks about it a LHP is on the mound.....then he does not want to move a hot hitter??? Out of the lineup.

He CAN Play LF. That is what he was playing in the minors more these last 2 years. He is not slow or Gomes like out there.

Either try him in LF or 1B but give him some playing time. Are the reports from the scouts that bad on him?

He no doubt is optioned once Votto comes back but Roger gets to stay. Awesome!

When Latos comes back there's really no good answer. Simon IMO is more effective as a starter than a reliever. He isn't a huge bat misser, he won't come in and K the side, but he knows how to nurse himself through six or seven effective innings.

Cingrani threw well last time, he's still recovering from injuries IMO, and he just ran out of gas. He's a starter of the future for the Reds and I'm not thrilled for him to go to the pen.

Reds clearly have the depth to trade a starting pitcher for offense.

True......and he will probably be the long man/swing man out of the bullpen.

I'm starting to think Cingrani should go to the pen. It's been rare when he goes more than 5 innings. Simon has had several games where he has gone 7. It's nice to have a lefty in the rotation, but Cingrani hasn't been that effective. Has had trouble throwing off speed pitches. Make him the long man.

That's cool. I choke alot early in my career. Had 296 and 2 297's before I shot my first 300 about 19 years ago.

I bowled as a youth in Dayton. Moved out of state and stopped for years. When I came back after 15 years in 2005 the game was totally different. Took me until 2008 to get my first one. Actually had 2 in the same set when I got my first 800 and all-time high series: 300-236-300-836.

What's kinda cool is relating (relatively speaking...we are talking bowling on house shots after all) my own experiences with the sport to how the Reds players are in the course of their careers. You kinda get how difficult it is, game of inches, etc., as well as the psychology of the game and all that. Very interesting perspective.

Thank You. He has control over some things and seems incapable of doing them.

Dusty may not or was not big on outside the box thinking but he had other managerial traits that helped more than it is helping Price.
Right now Price needs all the help he can get when it comes to making decisions and he is failing on the obvious ones.
