Given what we have, I agree. Cozart should not be anywhere near the top of the lineup. Santiago, a switch-hitter who has been hitting the ball well lately makes a lot more sense in the 2 slot.

I would flip Cozart and Santiago also. Otherwise this about the best you can do under the circumstances.

I honestly don't know why you need Cozart or Santiago in the 2 spot. Just remove BP and slide everybody up one then add Santiago at 7 or 8. Seems easy.

Yeah, but keep in mind they are facing a lefty. That could be why Cozart is hitting second.

Also, Schumaker is sitting against the lefty.

Also, Bruce is playing first to get both Heisey and Ludwick in against the lefty.

I think mostly Pena will play first and Bruce RF.

This isn't a set post-injuries lineup, there are other configurations we'll see.

3 errors in 3 games wasn't enough for Price to stop pushing Frazier over there.

I used to think Baker did stupid "stuff" half-ways to get Jocketty out of bed. Now I think certain managers just like to push the envelope.

Until one of them is hurt or stops producing, the Reds are in this thing.

Uh, not quite all year, Phil. I'll admit I had them buried about a month ago. A few here did, not all complete pessimists.

I don't like a 3-man bench that includes Santiago and Negron. You apparently do.

So why not just put me on "ignore" and cut the snark?

As for predicting a loss in any one game, I actually don't recall doing that this year.

And I chose my username...which seems to bother you...because I was one of very few (as I recall) who didn't want the Reds to sign Griffey.

See my signature line. Everything is perfect. Even a flipping 3-man bench.

I disagree. Boneheaded play is what I call it. He took 2-3 steps forward before he could get a decent read. When at 3rd w/less than two outs, do not move forward until you are SURE. He did not do that. He was trapped. And it was not like the ball was even close to the SS area. Dumb play by Cozart. I would agree, except the ball was a bullet to third. The few steps Cozart took were instinctual. Unfortunately, the ball wound up in the worst possible place on the diamond.

Yes, it would have been better if he just stayed on the base, but he only took a few steps. Just instinct. Not an easy thing to fix, it will happen sometimes.

Bunting is the worst thing ever. It's worse than Russia.

But when it is a pitcher (a few exceptions), you have to there (1st & 3rd, 1 out). DPs do not happen that often on a bunt in play. Managers all worry that the pitcher will hit a grounder that will be a routine DP. Unless you risk(!) a steal attempt and have 2nd & 3rd. Just bad luck.
