I get that idea too....but I'm not a fan of clumping all the poor bats together to give the pitcher an inning to recover. Plus Ramon seems to be hot right now, if you're going to sprinkle any of the poorer hitters towards the top...might as well be the hot hand.

Nothing has impressed and surprised me more about Billy Hamilton than his arm. I NEVER got any indication that he had this kind of cannon when he was in the minors.

An accurate throw and it's an easy out....not an accurate throw. Even if Devin catches it cleanly he wouldnt have been able to make the tag.

It was a good throw, but it kicked up when it hit the mound, causing Mesoraco to miss handle it. If it didn't hit the mound, it probably nails the runner.

I think you're setting the bar a tad high there Jojo. It was in front of the right handed batters box. That's more than accurate enough. Truthfully, it shouldn't even have been close. It was a great throw.

Good job to only allow 1 there. Definitely could've been MUCH worse.

JoJo described the play accurately. Watch the replay. Sorry if I don't get emotional. I fully expected that to end the inning and was surprised that it didn't.

Yeah, I know. I don't agree with that mindset though. Most normal 1b dig that out.

Much better inning there from Leake. 1-0 Pirates.

Those were all during his first week doing it IIRC. He's looked better lately. But I still don't like Santiago at third.

wasn´t a bad throw (not a perfect one but throwing from the knee´s in this situation is pretty tough).. 1b should have caught it

Said the Reds were 2.5 out while St Louis was 0.5 out
Called Santiago "Sanchez" 3 times during that injury

Having an inconsistent ump behind the plate isn't helping either, especially with Leake not being completely sharp with his command.

I like that the Pirates are competitive again. It's nice to have meaningful rivalries with basically the whole division. If the Cubs ever get their act together, the NL central could be must watch tv just about every series.

No relationship at all between where the pitches are registering on MLB gameday and the calls on the field. Either Gameday or the umpire is incompetent.
