I do not have a lineup to post, but I wanted to start this early to ask if anyone has any suggestions on places to eat before the game in downtown Cleveland?

I just googled "restaurants near Progressive field" and a list came up, and O'Flannery's looks somewhat interesting, but I am not sure.

Thanks in advance!

Is Panini's still around? Edit: just checked and yes it is. Not really a sit down place...Gateway area 840 Huron. Large sandwiches and the place is always packed, but if it's nice outside get it to go. Used to be one on High Street in C-bus but no more. :(

Yeah, I really like that place. My wife hates going to chains though and always wants to try something "local."

If it were up to me we would be eating at the Winking Lizard.

I don't know - I haven't been to an Indians game in years.

I went to the Winking Lizard before a Cavaliers game about 4 months ago though.

We just moved up to this area from North Carolina, still feeling my way around the city.

Wouldn't go THAT far... But there is a sort of chemical smell coming from the southeast that's pretty strong in the upper deck walkways. Could I be smelling Pittsburgh? ;)

Back in the 70's I'd agree with you....Pittsburgh smelled. But I went to PNC about 4 years ago, really nice place and downtown looks NOTHING like it used to. Really improved the city IMO. As for Cleveland...if your river is so polluted it catches on fire...yeah, it's a problem. :O)

No way... Just went to a Pirates game a month ago. They have fixed everything up and it's great in that whole area.....and funny enough it smelled like a cookout hamburger

Been to one Cleveland game and Cleveland smelled like butt.

I want to like Price but it's continued decisions like this that have no explanation (other than supposed "match ups." I'd like to see the same lineup for once, like after they scored 5 and 7 runs. Ugh.

We desperately need offense. 2 of these 3 guys are playing tonight.

Heisey: 4 for his last 24. (.167 BA)
Ludwick: 6 for his last 30. (.200 BA)
Mesoraco: 13 for his last 36 (.361 BA)

Having said that, I sincerely hope Ludwick and Heisey have big games.

Kc61
08-05-2014, 05:11 PM
Mesoraco isn't playing DH undoubtedly because Price thinks a catcher should completely rest on his off-day. Not saying I agree, that's probably the reasoning.

Look, the Reds have a weak lineup right now. It shows up more in the DH games where nine hitters (instead of eight) are needed. It's not changing until some reinforcements come in from the DL and the outside.

So hopefully things go right tonight, Cueto has a great game, and the Reds split the two away game series.

You can also say Luddy had 5 RBI last series and Heisey is 2 for his last 2 with a double and a triple. He only had 6 AB in the 4 game series vs Marlins and only Frazier had more total bases

True, but I'm inclined to stick with what Mes has done over his past 36 at bats (and this season) as opposed to another player's most recent series or two previous at bats. There really shouldn't be any convincing needed in the case of having Mesoraco's bat in the lineup.

Which means the regular 3B plays 1B....and we get Santiago in the lineup!

Not to mention, no Mesoraco at DH.

Hamilton has been god awful lately, really has come crashing down to earth.

Still hitting .270. Before the season, I think EVERYBODY would take that in a heartbeat.

And for what it's worth...5-15 in the marlins series. In the last 5 days...his average has gone UP. I think you need to redefine "crashing down to earth".

My top recommendation to people is to actually watch baseball games of other teams, because you quickly realize ALL teams leave runners on and "can't take advantage of runners in scoring position" and run into outs and all of the other same old complaints people here act like only the Reds are guilty of.

Spot on. It's also highly recommended to take a few days off and not watch ANY baseball. It lets you RE-appreciate being able to watch the game...good OR bad. Remember that feeling in December & January when you're dying for the season to start.

It wasn't that bad actually. Slow hit ball. They turned it fairly crisply. The throw from 2nd to the SS could've had more zip on it...Negron just has some wheels.

~edit~ Watched it again. Throws were fine IMO. It was the 2nd baseman sitting back and waiting on the ball...that's what hurt them. But of all the plays they've botched tonight...kinda hard to pick on them for that one. Negron just beat it out.
