Completely disagree with Jim Day there. The debate on Hamilton vs. Gordon should be in the baserunning category, not the fastest category. You can make an argument that Gordon could be better baserunner based on Hamilton's CS column. In the fastest, I think Hamilton is peerless.

Wainwright nearing 70 pitches after 3. The guy is toast. 3-2 now. Cards may be the only Central team to lose today.

That's ok with me

I'm not exactly feeling bad for the Cards...66 pitches through 3 is a bunch...but he's STILL winning the game 3-2.

That's not fair....Waiwright started sucking in the AS gameNo. 2 starts before that they started pumping cortison in his elbow. He's been getting by on guile and luck. In his last start he struck out 3 and walked 3. It used to be 9K's and 1BB.

Ball came off the bat of Jordy Mercer's bat 101 mph, hit Jennings in the right temple and caromed out and caught by 2nd baseman.

Interesting last 3 games. The three main starters averaged amost 8 innings, allowed 5 runs (average of 1.6 per game), walked 5 and struck out 19. A 1.51 ERA. Mesarocco was 0-8, but Bruce was 4-13 (.307), Ludwick 3-9 (.333), and Negron on fire (.538). Maybe things are finally coming together.

Likely Santiago's spot was the one that Negron was competing for. Some may say Bernadina, but he was a LHH OF only, while Santiago and Negron are the guys who can backup SS/2B.

This could have been an entirely different story. In the fifth, Jose Ramirez hit a line drive right at Bailey's head. It went off his jaw. He recovered the ball and threw to first. Ramirez reached when Todd Frazier dropped the ball. Manager Bryan Price and trainer Paul Lessard came out to check on Bailey. He stayed in and retired the next five in a row.

"It got me on the jaw," Bailey said. "Hell, I've been bit worse by bed bugs down in Saltillo."

Saltillo is a town in Mexico. The bed bugs would have to be huge to leave the big red mark Bailey had on his jaw. He also had the imprint of the seams from the ball. Bailey admitted he was a bit shaken up.

Thanks. Homer is a tough guy apparently. And he's pitching well. Just have to pause and realize that the guy is going to continue being a great pitcher. Maybe the brain trust knew what they were doing.

Good ballgame last night from sect 138 with the fam.

I wish Smith hadn't held up Hamilton on the second. I think he would have made it.

Scary moment with Bailey. He came within 3-4 inches of a very serious injury.

Lots of Indian fans including my daughters boyfriend. He had. #41 Santana jersey on which I gave him crap about all night. Santana had a rough night at 11B.

Watching Cleveland play defense you wouldn't know they were a major league team. I was embarrassed for them in this series.
