Good to see Cozart batting 2nd, refreshing to say the least. Can he bunt? :)

IF Price is so keen on the new stats in baseball, why on earth do you bat a guy with a .273 OBP second? Why do you continue to trot Heisey to LF when his line is .225/.274/.635 and Ludwick's is .260/.321/.719 on an every other day basis? Why even Schumaker is at .239/.291/.612. Defense you say? Ludwick may not look pretty but he gets the job done in left and has fewer mental lapses than Heisey who seems to be on another planet sometimes. Yes you need defense, but this team needs to score runs especially today. Not playing Santiago is a sin, nothing short. this bunk about Ludwick being too old to play every day is bunk. He should play at least three of four days.

toledodan
08-17-2014, 01:31 PM
Ludwick probably can't play both games. Sit ludwick when latos pitches because latos most likely to keep Colorado to fewer runs allowed.

Always felt Price isn't in deep love with Heisey's bat.

Today is the proof, with Cozart hitting second and Heisey hitting eighth.

Anyone think Reds will pay Heisey $2 million in an arbitration salary for next season?

I say yes and it will be insane. Nothing surprises me when guys like Jack Hannahan and Logan Ondrusek can get the contracts they got.

By th eway, anyone but me ever notice how Heisey squints when he's at the plate. Maybe he needs glasses or new ones? I understand he has contacts. Is this true? It sure isn't working.

I wouldn't mind Ondrusek back next year, as a swing reliever occasionally at AAA, last man in the pen. For depth, I doubt they will find much better.

You gotta stop with this every other day stuff. Heisey has a .412 avg and 1.206 OPS at Coors field and he's going to get 4 AB and 1 start this 4 game series. Hardly is that too much

Mr. Ludwick is hitting .571/.625/1.768 at Coors. He's started 80 games this year while Heisey has started 69. Maybe not even, but close. Reds could use his bat out there since Frazier is out. Ahem. Mr. Ludwick is hitting .571/.625/1.768 at Coors. He's started 80 games this year while Heisey has started 69. Maybe not even, but close. Reds could use his bat out there since Frazier is out. By the way, Chris is hitting .231 during the day this year and Ryan .321.

I would start Ludwick 3/4 of the games in LF, have him as the DH in most of the DH games and when Votto went out his butt would've been there to have him starting most every game.

You are sandbagging your numbers as you know Skip has had many many LF starts and Bruce being out gave Heisey many more starts than he would've.

You really expect Ludwick to start both games of the DH? (Since they won't try him at 1st?)

Ludwick is what, 37? He should be able to play 5-6 games a week. When I was that age, I didn't get to take off 2 days a week. :)

No. Just thought with no fire power in the lineup, Frazier out, Ludwick was needed in this game. Also, I agree that 3/4 of the starts should go to him.

As I said....he'd get about 125-130 starts this year if I had any say...and with PH AB's would get near 500 AB

Heisey is playing as needed. He's the best back up by a mile at every OF position. He would see 275-300 AB in a season like this with a rookie CF and injured/struggling RF and a 36 year old LF that would DH and also play back up 1st base.

Skip is the guy playing way too much for starters. He's the 3rd best LF, should never see CF or RF and is the 3rd best at 2nd and that's not including Phillips!.

Skip got a seeing eye single ....and more importantly a hit in a win. Going back towards first on a liner that landed 100 feet over Arenado's head was terrible but probably kept him from getting hosed out at home.

3. Frazier 1B

5. Pena C
