Well the plate umpire is Hoberg and the Reds are pitching Holmberg. There has to be some favoritism for the Reds there.

It was a cross up between Holmberg and Mesoraco that saw Mes catch it awkwardly, but it was indeed very much a strike and Simmons should have been rung up.

They're probably not considering him a major leaguer at this point, but they wanted to see what they had and now is the perfect time for that sort of thing. They got him for a 34 year old catcher hitting .212/.309/.327 and that is actually up from Hanigan's last season with the Reds.

So, if the Reds tie it up, does Skip pitch a second inning?

I'm already thinking Skip's emergence could enable us to trade Chapman for a big bat this offseason.

Getting Phillips back had really made a big difference.

Reds pitchers have given up 26 runs in the 4 games since BP has been back. Considering they gave up 20 in the two games prior to his return, his defense might be the reason for the improvement.

Yes for sure.

Of course when your staff is giving up 7.6 runs a game, you could put the 1927 Yankees out there and chances are you'd still lose.

Big difference. Reds are losing with more swag since Phillips came back.
