Reports are Cubs are on the verge of calling up another one of their Uber-prospects in Soler.

Next year the Cubs could have a lineup of:

Alcantara CF
Bryant 3rd
Rizzo 1b
Soler Rf
Castro lf
Russell SS
Baez 2nd
Castillo C

It's about to be a very good time to be a Cub fan and a Bud man.

Someone screwed the pooch, and needs to be demoted or fired for making the decision to start the game. In this day and age, we can't play the "we can't predict the weather" game. Stopping 5 minutes into the game is inexcusable, and harmful to the starting pitcher.

I had a feeling that the Reds would play like dogs tonight. JK. Still just one run behind. All is not lost quite yet.

Just noticed when reading the play-by-play that the Reds have hit into seven line outs in five innings. Lady Luck is not on their side so far.

Not only a bad team, but a horrifically boring bad team at that. I've certainly seen worse teams as a Reds fan, but I think this has been the most boring Reds team in my memory. Don't put many rallies together, not very many walk-offs or come-from-behind wins, one of if not the worst offensive team in the league. Really been a tough year.

Cueto has received near the bottom in run support for all pitchers this year. 3.50 p/g

I think the Reds should back off Cueto for the rest of the season. He has thrown the most pitches in MLB this year, and 1000 more pitches than Clayton Kershaw.

One problem Cueto has is that Mesoraco doesn't play when he pitches. I can't stand this personal catcher thing. Rest Mes against tough righties, not when any particular hurler is going for the Reds.

Tonight I think we saw the Reds backing off Cueto. He deserved to come out of the game, but Price pretty decisively lifted him with 95 pitches.

I thought so, too. Price usually goes with his starter, sometimes too long. As for Mesorocco, he's been horrible at the bat lately, too. This team was disabled by injuries as much as they are just not good hitters. We knew it the last two years, too.

We should have kept Travis Wood he looks like a potential Cy Young winner, of course this year most pitchers look really good when facing the Reds!

I hate to be a defeatist; however, unless Votto returns pronto and back to 100% and /or Jay Bruce catches "lightning in a bottle" and hits like Babe Ruth (which he is capable of over short periods) I don't see the Reds playing over .500 baseball the rest of the season...I'm predicting a 76-86 season :(

I know Corcino has had a couple of rough years as a starter, but I hope Daniel (and Contreras too for that matter) is given a long look in the pen come Spring Training. We have a pretty decent list of talented starting candidates up and down the Farm System, but not many that really wow you on the reliever side of things. Working fewer innings per appearance and having the major league staff to work with could help with the control and young, cheaper, strong arms could really help freshen the pen.
