Hammy walks. Bourgeious hits into a DP and Frazier K's. Just your typical Reds hitting inning. Nil to nil after one.

cumberlandreds
09-11-2014, 01:01 PM
Cards out in order in the 2nd.

That walk in the first to Carpenter was first walk to lead off a game by Cueto since 2011.

cumberlandreds

If anyone still needs to convinced that W-L records for pitchers are bogus, Johnny Cueto's 2014 season should persuade you otherwise.

cumberlandreds
09-11-2014, 02:28 PM
Cueto has retired 14 straight to end the 8th. He also has 109 pitches.

Phillips walks and Bruce singles him to third. 1st and third and no one out.

Hitters are doing themselves proud today. Push across one run and hand the ball to Chapman.

Good game from Jay so far. Steals a homer from Fat Matt and then singles DatDude to third with no outs.

Jay drops a line drive and Phillips scores! 1-0 Reds

Reds lead 1-0.

cumberlandreds

BTW that was not an error as they got Bruce on the force play at 2nd.

Cardinals defense has sucked all year.

Hope it costs them big time in the playoffs

Line out to SS and the SS throws the ball away trying to get Santiago. Ramon goes to 2nd.

Pinch hitter for Cueto and The Missile will be in to pitch the 9th.

Carpenter K's.

Does Phillips tag up and score if Jay doesn't drop the ball?

I'm only listening and Marty never really said. I am assuming no.

Cueto is an 18 game winner.

The Reds can take some solace that they at least slowed the Cardinals down a little.

3 out of 4 from the Cardinals in September. It should have felt better than this.

Three in a row. Yay! Cueto gets number 18.

The season may not have gone the way we all wanted but I still get a lot of satisfaction any time we beat the Cardinals and taking three out of four from them this week? Yeah, that feels mighty good. :D

Congrats to Johnny Cueto on his 18th win! He has a real shot at getting to 20 wins this year which would be really cool but imagine how many he could have had without the bullpen issues this year.

Congradulations to JC. What a superb season. Talent, competitiveness, brains and hard work. Thats a hard combination to beat.

Carpenter K's.

Just watched the replay on MLB.COM, no way Phillips scores. Thank you, sucky Cardinal defense.

No way, not with zero outs.

One you have to say for the Reds offense, the last 3 games Cueto has started, the Reds have scored a late run during Cueto's last inning to get him the victory

Not scoring much, but getting it done when it mattered.

Cueto has given up 3 or more runs only 6 times in 31 starts.

JC looked like he had hit the wall in late August when he lost two in a row but he has just simply put it into another gear. That's what running those stadium steps does for you. Charles Woodson trains the same way and he's still starting in the NFL at age 38.
