I'd bet on the Generals before I'd bet on the Reds at this point.

Did Adam Wainright just say Yadier is the best catcher to play the game? Good lord test that moron for Exxxstasy.

Do you want him to say Johnny Bench even though he wasn't born yet when Bench caught?

Only six straight Golden Gloves and a pair of rings. Agreed. A really outrageous opinion.

Because WS rings makes someone a better player.

I know what each of you are saying, and Doug certainly has a point, but the catcher is the field general of the team. If you "lead" two teams to the WS title, I have no problem sending a few bonus points your way. Just not too many. ;)

Its nice to have on the resume. Its not like Molina just happened to be on those championship teams.

I got no problem with Wainwright thinking Molina is the greatest. What else is he going to say? And Molina is a helluva player. Not a news flash.

I assume he meant currently playing the game. And I assume he meant best catcher, not best hitter who happens to catch.

I'd rather have Mesoraco going forward. But Molina would be a nice backup catcher for the Reds ;)

ESPN announcers are befuddled and beside themselves, unable to comprehend how the Reds could be beating the Cardinals.

Mesoraco with his 24th home run of the year. The last Reds catcher to hit more than 24 homers in a season was Johnny Bench, with 31 HR's in 1977.

(Bench also hit 24 HR's in 1980.)

I really miss Jon Miller and Joe Morgan on ESPN. Consummate professionals. (Though I'm glad Joe is now part of the Reds organization.)

Shulman, Kruk, and Schilling are Grade A jerks.

I like Schulman but he does get down graded by having to announce with Kruk and Schilling. Schilling, especially, is just awful.

I hope Bruce can have a good last week. I believe he thinks and broods about his hitting when things are going badly. A good last week could put good thoughts in is head for the long winter that is coming very quickly.

Here is something curious:

Detroit's record: 86-70; Kansas City's record: 85-71. Advantage Detroit.

Detroit has 6 home games left; Kansas City has six road games left. Advantage Detroit.

Combined records of Detroit's remaining opponents: 414-522 (.442); combined records of Kansas City's remaining opponents: 452-486 (.482). Advantage Detroit.

Playoff Odds per ESPN: Detroit 94.7; Kansas City 98.0.

Say what?!?
