Why give anybody the day off? If it was a normal 3 game set...I guess I could see it...but we had an off day in between already. They're fine. Heck, they'd probably get pissed off if he gave them an off day already.

Besides...You never **** with a winning streak.

95? More like 91, 92, 93 (at most), but I really, really like what I saw. Small sample size, but he keeps the ball down, has enough velocity on his fastball, has excellent control and a wicked slider. We might have ripped off the Marlins something fierce. That pleases me.

And to think the Reds even got Wallach as a throw-in on that deal.

DeSclafani is likely done, same with Burnett, so it's probably going to be a bullpen game. And of course, we all know that this is going to be a Kevin Gregg game. Only Gregg and Parra didn't go last night so it's a virtual certainty we'll see Gregg today. Let's hope we survive.

The fortunate thing for the Reds is the Pirates used their bullpen heavily last night and that same pen will probably have to throw at least another six innings today. Hopefully we can take advantage of that.

I didn't know this rule existed. Rule 6.06(c):

If a batter strikes at a ball and misses and swings so hard he carries the bat all the way around and, in the umpire’s judgment, unintentionally hits the catcher or the ball in back of him on the backswing before the catcher has securely held the ball, it shall be called a strike only (not interference). The ball will be dead, however, and no runner shall advance on the play.

Cozart needs to be much better than that. He's in there for his defense and he just cost the team a run with a boneheaded decision (and bad throw to boot). Harrison wasn't being held on at first and has good speed. He's going to make it to second quickly. Cozart should have known the play was at first.

And how is that a hit not an error? That was, by definition, an "error" by Cozart. Quite the sizeable one. MLB official scorers are a joke.

Must say that BP and a number of the Reds look slimmed down and in good shape going into the season. Hopefully it will help them avoid injuries this season though most of BP's involve him being HBP IIRC.
