It's about time that gets reversed for a change.

I never root against anyone on my team. I may not have much faith in them at times but am happy when they prove me wrong. I do think there are some that root against that player they don't like or feel they should not be on the team just prove themselves right.

I played this game on MLB: The Show last night. Marquis pitched 7 innings of 1 run ball and Mesoraco hit a grand slam. Reds won 5-2.

So it is written, so it shall be done.

Marquis might be an even better hitter than Leake. So if he lasts long enough to get an at bat there is that.

Like cumberlandreds said, I never root against a Red. I hope Marquis wins 20 games and the Cy Young, and that Kevin Gregg leads Reds relievers in appearances with effective outings each time out.

I just don't like the chances of either one of them doing anything except hurting us overall.

Marquis had a season where his OPS+ was over 100. Unfortunately that was in 2005 and his bat won't good enough to make up for his arm.

As two 23-year-olds came to the finish line in the St. Louis Cardinals' fifth-starter competition last month the Cincinnati Reds were awarding a starting job to a 35-year-old non-roster invitee coming off Tommy John surgery. The organization's respective approaches to filling out their starting rotations is a distillation of Mozeliakism and Jockettyism. It's homegrown talent vs. scrap-heap retread.

Seems the "author" is pointing out the amazing Cards development system versus the bankrupt Reds one. By my count the Reds will start 6 players who came up through the Reds system. The Cards will start 5. Neither pitcher came from their teams farm system. Seems pretty ridiculous to me.

I believe he is more focused on the trend Jocketty had while in St. Louis and agree that the analysis of his time and roster in Cincinnati is incredibly superficial (i.e. drawing conclusions based wholly on Marquis).

I'm not predicting anything....but yeah, we're totally winning 108 games this year.

Yeah but Jocketty was the GM while Moz was working in scouting. So I don't think the Cards said "Well we got Jocketty as GM and we really need this Mozeliak guy in scouting", it wasn't some package deal. Jocketty brought Moz with him to St. Louis.

At least Jason Heyward appears to really suck (just like he did with the Braves). He has somehow now struck out twice against Marquis in this game, accounting for 33.3 percent of the Cards' outs.

Cardinals could end up really regretting that Shelby Miller trade. Heyward has never been good (and never will be IMO).

You can tally balks, wild pitches, rushed throws and the additional bases taken because of.....but the missed locations by the pitcher pitching and the number of more hittable pitches to try to keep him from stealing so easily.....just because Votto hits a HR or hits a line drive doesn't necessarily mean it was because BHam was making the pitcher nervous and also if Votto hits a 1-0 centered fastball into a double play on the flip side of things.
