I'm glad I don't bet on baseball, because I would have bet good money that Pena was going to be the starting catcher today.

RedsfaninMT

I'm surprised nobody has been given playing time other than the starting 8. The 8 shouldn't be tired yet, but the guys on the bench will need some playing time to stay sharp, IMO.

This is how Jack McKeon managed. At least it's my perception, years later.

Find your best team and play them. You win with your best players.

Today I'd like to see some offense from some of the "other" guys, beyond Hamilton/Votto/Frazier.

Wouldn't be surprised if Diaz is the closer today.

You got your ace on the mound today. Win today and win the series. Go for the throat.

Lots of division games this month. Wouldn't be surprised to see this approach all April.

I don't blame Card fans for hating Cueto for kicking LaRue in the head. I agree it was years ago, but that's something that is hard to forget. Plus, I don't want to give up my right to hate Molina, LaRussa and especially Carpenter for their role in the same fight ;)

I was not worried about a healthy Votto being a great hitter again. I am with bruce. Even his approach was better last year in the first 2 months. He looks to be the same confused hitter again.

Devin is making Phillips look like Darrell Evans with his patience. I just don't want him stressing himself out of the 4th spot, but then again it is not like Byrd or Phillips deserve to be there either.

Yeah I would have given Dominguez that AB and just burned a guy. Probably wouldn't have mattered.

Yeah. Don't understand a non-move like that. Sometimes I think the manager is afraid to "embarass" the hitter by burning him.

It's already the seventh inning, guy is a very tough lefty. Boesch obviously not the choice against him.

You're correct, probably wouldn't have mattered.

I agree. Tired of the We Do Not want to waste a year of development for Lorenzen argument. The Cardinals did just that last year with Carlos Martinez. They still have him for at least another 4-5 years, while using his ability to help their bullpen, which was full of retread crap as well in early 2013 when they were blowing games early in the year.
