I would like to propose the Reds start Gregg today and bring Cueto in to pitch the 2nd and later so he knows exactly what kind of relief he's going to get, and so the offense has a longer time to dig themselves out of the hole Gregg puts them in.

I think it has more to do with when Mesoraco gets back than it does Phillips heating up. It's nice to see him swing well while he's there, though.

Bat speed doesn't magically get better. It's not like he's hitting the ball hard right at people. He looks lost. He looks every bit of 37 and at the tail end of his career.

Hitters go through slumps. Could just be a slump for Byrd, could be a signal the end is near. 10 games is not enough to know either way.

He changed up his approach at the plate to try and shorten his swing but hasn't gotten his timing down with it at all. Will be interesting to see if he sticks with it

Carpenter is kinda like Jeter in a way that he convinces people the mediocre parts of his game are great by doing things like that. MCarp is not a great baserunner, but he passes the eye test.

Hamilton still hits too many balls in the year. In the first few games he looked like BH from last June/July.

Now he looks like the post-ASB Hamilton.

I think he would have benefited from another table setter in the lineup to take some pressure off.
Fowler, Hamilton, Votto to lead off. Just a sense Billy would do better in that situation.

Hamilton still hits too many balls in the year. In the first few games he looked like BH from last June/July.

Now he looks like the post-ASB Hamilton.

I think he would have benefited from another table setter in the lineup to take some pressure off.
Fowler, Hamilton, Votto to lead off. Just a sense Billy would do better in that situation.
I don't think we should be overreacting either way on a game to game basis.

Really impressive that the offense and bullpen are not performing. I seem to recall those being the issues last year.

Oh, well, the front office did watch Votto get healthy. They get credit for that.

It's like clockwork. When I'm watching a game online and there is a delay, I can always tell when something bad happened before the game updates on my screen because Redszone gets super slow.

This is one of those nights where nothing is going right for the Reds and they're likely on their way to losing yet again in St. Louis and after every half inning I think to myself "just turn it off and disconnect for the night. Maybe tomorrow will go better." And then I never turn it off and suffer through every remaining pitch.

According to Gameday it was a 92 MPH fastball on the hands. Seems like he just hit a good pitch. (I would have walked the LH Jay).

I agree. The Hoover turnaround, healthy Votto and Disco Stu. All positives. Hopefully Bailey is healthy enough to pitch like 2012-13 and Devin's Hip issues do not become Ludwickgate 2013 or Votto injury issues 2014, but someone has to make RZ fun for conspiracy theories.
