The Mesaraco thing is absurd. Walt and Price are making themselves look like fools so far this year in a variety of ways. They are an awful combo.

I would swap Marquis and Disco in the rotation so we don't waste a good pitcher on a rainy game.

It's miserable in person tho' they did mention that the pre-game ceremonies will go on as scheduled. [emoji97]

I think it was a terrible idea to have the 1990 reunion in April. It would have been much better to have it in the summer. Maybe in June.

At least that's one less hour the bullpen can screw up.

If the storm stays on that trajectory, we should be playing baseball by 2:30 or 2:45. Lift right on out of Cincinnati.

Some weather sites are saying that the rain isn't due to stop until around 5. Even after that, there's a chance for scattered thundershowers.

On the plus side, the Reds are making plenty on concessions. Maybe they can use the cash to add another washed up reliever.

It baffles me how much Bryan Price is with it during the pregame stuff shown on TV and then in the games is just so odd and seemingly bass ackwards.

Cingrani is the long man.....which apparently means when Cueto/Leake (both top 15 innings guys), Homer (quite reliable to not need long relief, Disco (hot start pitching deep) throw a crapper going 3 2/3 innings....Cingrani gets to pitch. If the Reds are tied, up a couple or down 1....or extras before the 15th inning ....those tasks will be asked of Gregg (excellent start), Badenhop (likely all-star)....Parra and Hoover

In the old, old days, teams would have a sixth starter/long man available for early knockout situations and also for long extra inning games.

I never believed in such a role. The pitcher tends to sit on the bench waiting for infrequent situations.

Cingrani as a long man, in that sense, is not something I think is advisable.

They're reevaluating at 4. I'd like to get a game in today, but if they did a doubleheader tomorrow instead, at least we wouldn't have to worry about Gregg, Badenhop, et al pitching in both games.

He could. Big guy with a full year of starting under his belt. Big ballpark there, too.

Anyone who watched closely last year could see that Simon has quality stuff. He was not purely a creation of the Reds defense.

So, the Reds got a SS who isn't playing well at AAA (albeit very small sample size) and a pitcher who is hurt in exchange for Simon? Not sure why I liked that trade so much when it happened.

Then again, I didn't like the Latos trade when I found out about it ... and that is looking like a steal of a trade for the Reds.

Oh well, I still think Eugenio Suarez is a solid prospect. I bet he turns things around at Louisville ... and the Reds definitely needed some legit long-term competition for Cozart at SS.

Haha

FoxSports is on their like 8th or 9th repeat of previous Reds content now. This time it is Jim Day interviewing Bryan Price at Redsfest.

Day: "What excites you most about for 2015"

BP: "I'm excited about the bullpen bouncing back from the year it had last year...you need a little bit of roster change, we need some turnover to keep things fresh and to bring in players who help us get better"

Sorry but I scared my dog when I started laughing at that one

That's MLB procedure. Every team handles rain delays the same way.

Just schedule the game in September, when rosters are expanded, the Cubs are in the last week of that month and they can play the DH then.
