^ Like I said in that Bruce thread on ORG, the Reds just don't have any good choices to replace Bruce. Even for a couple of nights its not good.

Someone needs to make a Missing poster for Boesch. Even if he doesn't get a start in RF, he hasn't had much of any chance to pinch hit.

Bruce is 2 for 15 lifetime vs Bumgarner. Its a decent day to give him off.

There's no way on earth Boesch was going to play against Bumgarner, that's a given. But, to go from being the hottest hitter on the team in Spring to having received 25 at-bats this season when Bruce is hitting .160 or whatever just doesn't make much sense.

That's true.

I never put too much stock in a lefty batter hitting lefty pitchers better than righty pitchers. I think in many cases that tends to normalize over time.

Not doubting the numbers or statements at all. I saw the stats, certainly accurate, you're right.

But I wouldn't use Boesch against a good lefty like Baumgartner on that basis. Since Mes can't play the field now, I probably would have used the same lineup as Price. Just my way of thinking.

This could be a good thing for the long-run if this means we're watching Marquis' last start as a Red.

If this front office leaves Marquis in the rotation over Iglesias ... they're even dumber than I thought.

The obvious way to go is a rotation of Cueto, Leake, Disco, Lorenzen and Iglesias.

In all seriousness, what do you guys think the chances are of Iglesias remaining in the rotation and the Reds giving Marquis his walking papers after this start? (Presuming he continues to pitch poorly tonight.)

I mean, they don't even need Marquis as insurance. If Iglesias (or Lorenzen) don't work out long-term as starters this year, the Reds have Moscot and Axelrod at Louisville who are both better options than Marquis.

Oh well marquis you will get them next time. Giants had to hit some HR eventually. Shame first one was a good pitch and barely stayed fair, and second one was just bad placement. He is just playing like billy hamilton, shows good things from time to time, and shows reason why no one wanted him.

All I want from his this year is at least 5 innings 3 Runs each start. I just like to think he is taking the oposite track simon did last year. Bad at first, good 2nd half.
