"Hey Kris Negron we have had BHam hitting 9th after all the pitchers because he has been so poor with the bat. We want you to hit after him today."

On the plus side is there are only good arguments for Lorenzen replacing 2 or 3 of the bats in the lineup tonight. Well maybe 4 but that's it.

"Hey Kris Negron we have had BHam hitting 9th after all the pitchers because he has been so poor with the bat. We want you to hit after him today.

Maybe they just want Negron to stand still and take pitches while Hamilton steals 2nd and 3rd.

"You were just gonna strike out or hit a lazy fly ball anyway, let the kid steal bases while you watch"

Is Suarez tired already? Or is Price paranoid about more injuries happening so he's not going to play all his starters at the same time ever again?

As a devoted Reds fan, I think the owner or GM needs to say something publicly about this situation. If they lose tonight, the Reds will be 15 games out in mid-June.

I'd like to see the Reds acknowledge this situation and assure the fans they are focused and trying to help matters.

Unless they are simply waiting for the inevitable 35 game winning streak.

There's probably a plan, they're just not telling us. I mean, we know injuries have killed us for two years and the organization doesn't have the depth to stay competitive, the only real plan is to see what you can get for guys like Cueto, Chapman, Leake and maybe a guy like Pena. Or really, whoever can bring in a good haul.

But I do agree the Reds need to acknowledge it, and at the very least, attempt to sell it to the fans. Hard to stay interested watching a lineup with a bunch of AAAers.

The Reds have enough relievers to not have to use someone for 2. But I wish they would groom relievers to be able to throw 2 innings more often, thereby eliminating the need to ever think about carrying 13 freaking pitchers.

Dominguez got a lucky double, and then a lucky run scored.

C'mon Billy, it's a 3 run lead with one out, just stay on the bag.

That's what I hate about the running game. Up 5-2, runner on second one out with a sure out at the plate and you get picked off ending what could have been a 4-run lead. Just silly. You gotta know when to hold em.

In this deep, dark season, you live for games like this. Just a little sunshine to give you joy, even though you know the next disappointment is just around the corner, maybe tomorrow. Lorenzen will be a star and more than adequate replacement for either Latos or Simon. Good game, boys!

He only walked 3, one intentionally, but only struck out 1. He induced a lot of weak contact and the hits off of him were generally jam shots that found a hole. I'm just struck by how, at least so far, he can't seem to get a swing and miss with 2 strikes on a batter.

He does seem to have problems being ahead and has given up hits on 0-2 to some bad hitters in previous games.

Watching the highlights..

The Phillips and Votto barehanded plays were nice. Especially that Phillips one even tho they didn't turn the DP.

Votto didn't really need to barehand his I'm sure, but hey I can't blame the guy for going for style points at the moment.

Just got home from Detroit. I was at last night's game. Had excellent seats in the 11th row right behind home plate near Reds dugout. (My seat was right behind the edge of the net. ;)) Very nice ballpark, and friendly fans!

The "Joe Nuxhall Star of the Game" for last night was Todd Frazier, who hit two home runs!
