If you still hold out hope for the Reds this year, then this is a huge game. Desperately trying to claw back to .500 and four under looks a lot more manageable than 6 under. It's also makes for a solid 3-3 road trip against pretty good teams with two lesser lights coming to Cincy this week. If they maintain at 4 under I don't think it's unreasonable to shoot for ending the home stand 2 under.

Not sure how you handle the Suarez situation. Could send him down to AAA to just relax a little and get his defense back on track. Or Reds could just have him play through it.

That error is particularly upsetting because Josh Smith needs support. Young pitcher doesn't need to have errors behind him.

Besides there really being nobody else, you might as well find out now if he's a potential everyday SS sometime in the future.

My real point was that it's been 15 games, he can hit, and he's never been this bad defensively before.

I didn't say "Oh, he's excellent, he'll be perfectly fine" because I don't know that. But I do know that one week worth of games isn't enough to make a real judgment.

He does seem to be decent at the plate, but you can't have that glove as it currently is at SS.

And "judgments" aren't set in stone for all eternity, never to be revisited. They fluctuate like stocks. But as of right now, all we have to make any judgments of him are what we've seen, and from what little we've seen, he's awful.

I don't know why that concept is so difficult to grasp. Of course it's a small sample. Of course he could get better. Of course he's young and so on and so on and so on.

The Reds are just overmatched by the Mets' pitching. They are falling apart this series, playing horrible baseball.

If it was a home series they would be well advised to give out free pizza even without the strikeouts. Just as compensation to the fans.

This team needs significant change, the one thing they refuse to do. The only answer to this frustration is to tune out.

Smith was clearly brought up here for no purpose other than to not try very hard at winning games. 110 pitches to this lineup is almost as bad as the opposing pitcher to a Reds lineup without Joey Votto in it.

I can see a pitcher burning you for one hit but 3? Head up your rear does not cover those sequences.

How many times a week does Phillips get hurt. Every week it's whack a mole with how he will get hurt and then return like Willis Reed (In Thom's eyes)

Finally.... at least once/twice a month you get a Votto is in a fog description of his play. Is this just hyperbole or does he mentally check out sometimes?

OK...all frustrations out. Onwards with any false hope of going anywhere. I mean they will take 4 or 5 out of the next 6 games to have Bob C continue to want to play this charade right?
