Yeah....thought that too. His SB numbers do help greatly offset better guys after him to knock him in....but not good commentating.Right. I know OBP isn't the end-all, in fact I don't think any one stat should ever be used to come to a conclusion.

But to just throw out runs scored as some total mitigating factor when Billy's offensive game (and I still love his defense and think he's a net positive for the team) is clearly pretty bad still just made me laugh. And to use Joey Votto of all people to make the comparison.

I'd like to tell 'em to get back at me when Billy puts up a .900 OPS.

Have to believe it is just that: GM speak. We've all seen the reports almost daily from Rosenthal and the other "insiders" telling of WJ wanting the earth, the sun and the moon for Cueto and others. I think it was more of a 5 minute infomercial for him declaring: give us something big folks, time is running out. At least I hope that's what it was.

There are good players, yes. Votto, Frazier, Chapman and Cueto are great. But look at the dreck on this bench. The rotation. My God, the bullpen....the bullpen....no, this collection of baseball players otherwise known as a team is garbage.
I guess what I was saying is I've seen teams with less talent win. And part of the bullpen's trouble is letting them get their brains beat out while saving the rest of the pen for tomorrow

Mike Leake needed to be gone 15 minutes ago.

Lebowski is now ragging on Leake even in games when leake isn't playing. Maybe we can dump Leake and plug Villarreal into the rotation.

Problem is most of the other teams have more gobs of talent than the Reds do.

Another good point. I keep hoping the Cubs crash and burn like the 2011-12 Pirates....but then the Pirates have taken the run prevention thing to an art form.

After the 2001-2008 era.... I sure expected more than just 3 winning seasons and at least 1 playoff series win before they needed to blow it up again.

Besides Hoover and Chapman there are no consistent bullpen pitchers on this team. They were getting better and now they look like they all got tired and useless at the same time. Mattheus was pitching better than this.
