Lead off single by Fowler
Schwarber with another single. Not a great beginning.
Nearly a DP...but a slow turn and Bryant beats it out. (Suarez & Phillips just are smooth together yet. They need time)
Deep sac fly to center to plate Fowler by Rizzo. Bryant to 2nd. 2 down.
Soler K's to end the inning.

Lorenzen falling behind in the count...too much nibbling IMO. He needs to be more aggressive.

Which is the main reason I would love to keep Leake around for the next three seasons, even at $12M-$13M per season. Leake would take pressure a lot of pressure off of the bullpen over that period of time.

There are zero players who can do what Leake does. Not sure why people think that they are out there. Nobody is out there that can throw 770 innings over the next 3-1/2 seasons. What you get instead are 15 pitchers who struggle mightily to pitch well enough to stay on the team and in the rotation.

Ah, I didn't hear that part. Thom Brennaman really can be silly. Maybe he's not catching our audio though.

Yeah, he yelled that right before, "you can't tell me to shut up" ...for all I know it's fine for TV, especially cable.

Belated WOW, what a play BP/Suarez (nickname yet?)

I still like Tom's idea in the ORG thread about scooping up Edwin Jackson. Any chance we could get him through waivers, signed, and activated in time to close out the ninth? 'Cause that would rock.

O'Grady, Sugilio, De Los Santos, Charlton, Gordon, Batista, Siri and Berroa are all new to the organization and can play CF, but are all four+ years away, except for maybe O'Grady (who's 23). Looks like they might have already realized they need another option.

As long as the REDS are dumping players, why not sell high on Hoover.

It's a rare Reliever who can pitch effectively for more than 2-1/2 seasons. After that, organizations just try to chase their best years that are behind them while once very 3 or 4 years do they find that effectiveness again. Hoover will never again be worth more than he is right now.

Disagree. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, the "run on contact" play makes sense because even if the runner at third is retired, the runner on 2nd replaces him and you still have a runner at 3rd with 2 outs.
