I just don't understand Suarez batting 7th in the varsity lineup and I really don't get it in the JV lineup.

Skip batting 2nd but DeJesus 8th SMH

Phillips leading off still stinks.

Billy plays good against the Pirates so we sit him. Glad I chose last night's game instead of this one.

Sitting Votto is particularly odd considering the off day tomorrow.

For those of you that think that the Pirates throw at the Reds SO much, take a look at this.

Since the 2012 season:

The Reds have hit 37 Pirates batters
The Pirates have hit 34 Reds batters.

Also since the 2012 season:

The Pirates have been hit a total of 276 times.
The Pirates have hit a total of 256 batters.
The Reds have been hit a total of 202 times.
The Reds have hit a total of 223 batters.

So once again, as I said earlier, I agree that the Pirates hit too many batters. But look at the facts, they've been hit more than they have been hitting other teams. Meanwhile, its the Reds that have hit more than they get hit.

I'm not posting this to get into an argument, I just want you to see the facts. The Pirates aren't nearly as guilty as you guys think they are.

Look back at yesterday's thread, you are overreacting to an 'overreaction' by Reds fans that didn't happen.

I wish Iglesias could've made 1 more good pitch to get out of the 7th on his own. That was a good resume outing last night...Winning the battles to get out of the 7th would've been extra credit.

I 100% agree with how Price handled that situation. Felt perfect sitting there in the stands.

I don't hate it, but the pitch count wasn't too high (79) and it's not like the Reds were down just a run with two outs in the inning and Sampson's spot up. I think he could have gotten three out in the 6th like Villarreal just did. Not a huge deal, but it made a lot more sense to me as a 'learning experience' then leaving in rookies over 100 pitches who are walking guys.

I worry though that when they beat the drum on something like Suarez playing the outfield, as was also suggested on Reds.com, that it is something they are hearing and repeating from execs in the organization.

That's my fear as well, but honestly I haven't seen too much congruency between what the announcers say regarding personnel handling and coaching and what actually happens on the field. Seems the announcers are often a step behind.
