Interesting lineup. I was wondering a few days ago if they should put Phillips in the 4 spot and move Frazier to another spot. It will be interesting to see how it goes.

Personally, I think Blandino is the 2b moving forward. Guessing where Suarez will be is pointless IMO until we know if anybody gets dealt. Brandon or Zack go anywhere and we know our answer. If not, we'll see a rotation of all 3 at the 2 slots I think. But it's just guessing at this point.

I wonder why Jason wasn't on third base after the Votto fly ball? If it's a HR, it doesn't matter. If it's off the wall, he'd likely score form 2nd anyway. With no outs, you'd think he'd make sure he got to third? Presumably he was going about half way.

We've battled back and forth on this for much of the season, and I'm starting to see it more from your side of things. I can no longer give Price the benefit of the doubt. The poor roster construction and injuries are certainly a factor, but don't tell the whole story. He's been absolutely atrocious. These mistakes don't happen on a club managed by Buck Showalter, or Tony LaRussa, or Joe Maddon. Of course, every team occasionally has a brain fart. But he only has 100 hits playing every day beyond mid-August. He just hits too many fly balls and not enough singles.

Ironically, his typical fly ball would have tied this game there.

They've also had some of the worst players. Teams like the Cards and Pirates are steamrolling along because of their depth, not because of just a few superstars. The same applies to the Nationals. A lot of star power, but they're a top heavy team and it shows. The Reds have some top-end talent, but there's a huge dispartity between their best players, and the rest of the roster. And some of their best players (notably Frazier) were playing a bit over their head early in the season. His crash back to earth was likely inevitable, but frustrating. Couple that with their ignorance and lack of baseball IQ, and it isn't pretty.

I'm commonly wrong. Not on this.

....we'll he's been a major league manager and is a major league 3rd base coach you know he didn't tell him before every pitch to check out the position of the fielders and beware of a line drive DP or to watch out for the IF fly rule. Do we know he fist say to him as soon as he got there....hey in the air to the OF tag up and in the IF gotta watch for the IF fly?

I coached the bases for 20 years including in the regional finals and have been district coach of the year if we are going to humble brag back and forth. I say those things every time to every player and even the very best sometimes ignore or get caught in the moment and don't do. I've seen 3rd base coaches with both hands up and 1/2 way down the line jumping up and down and have seen Brandon Phillips (and many many others throughout the game) run right through it and get out.

Maybe Riggleman said nothing at any time to him and did nothing to help or coach Bourgeois....even then it's still not just as much his fault.....but neither of us have a clue of whether he said anything during that AB or not and we both know players don't always listen be it intentional like running thru a sign or unintentional getting caught up in the moment. I don't care if you've lead Vanderbilt to 4 National Championships or live and die by the Steve Smith book of coaching .....you're wrong.
