Long, 30 pitch 1 run first inning for Lamb. That's been one of his problems through his first few starts, he gets very few quick outs.

After last night I would be more comfortable if the Reds were down by four after the first or at a minimum three runs but I guess a 1 run deficit will have to do. Lamb getting through with only 30 pitches compared to Sampson's 45 yesterday is also a bit disconcerting. Hopefully the Reds will be able to overcome these short comings and rally nonetheless.

Did you know that Adrian Gonzalez has more RBIs than anybody in the NL since he joined the Dodgers?

Of course, what that means is that Adrian Gonzalez is just the the same guy he's always been and has had a nice number of baserunners on ahead of him, but still. RBIs!

"That is not a good start to the 2nd inning, walking the number 7 hitter"

This Reed has thrown some great games, but other than that the early returns on the Cueto trade are mixed.

I think Lamb has the stuff to be a solid rotation guy, he just needs time/experience.

With Finnegan, I worry that the Reds overestimated how ready he was as a starter. Just a year removed from his only full, 100+ inning season as a starter in college, he's looking like someone who should have gone to AA to get stretched out as a starter, not AAA. It is possible the bullpen is his final destination.

Thom can't understand why Holmberg got kicked around by the Dodgers after 3 good starts. It's a mystery, Thom.

Disappointing game. Read a post somewhere about Barnhart giving up batting RH? Sure he has talked about this and is considering this after the season.

I quite like the idea over Votto, BP and teh Frazier. If Frazier can get it going and BP can keep hitting, hopefully it will give Votto a bit more to hit and give us something good to watch over the last month or so.

I don't know why Cowboy keeps saying LeCure's issues had nothing to do with velocity. He's throwing 89 now. It was low to mid 80s in spring training and early in Louisville. I'd say it was almost entirely due to velocity.

It had "some" to do with his velocity. It was his mechanics that were keeping him from reaching his peak velocity and screwing with his location/release. Sam sorted it out around mid-June IIRC.

Billy does that too....coincidence?

Well, Billy has the metabolism of a small hamster or gerbil...so I'd expect him to squirm in the box. :O)
