Going to my first Wrigley game tomorrow as a recent transplant to Chicago. Thought about going tonight but with Lorenzen and the Cubs coming off of Arrietta's no hitter, it might just make it too unbearable to bare.

How's it going to "mess with his development?" You saying he's so weak minded that if he gets hit around as a rookie that he'll be damaged beyond repair?

That's a myth first of all. And if it were true, then I don't want him anyway. He's wasting pitches in Pensacola.

No, seriously, I agree. We should bring up Strahan because he really knocked around the Midwest league pitchers and Blandino because he has faired well at AA. Time to call up Amir Garrett and Cody Reed. That way if they come up and stink it screws up their development, starts their service time clock, AND damages their trade value! For one it's only his 2nd full year of professional baseball, so he is most likely on an innings limit, which he is probably close to reaching since he only pitched 84 innings last year and is at 131 this season. Also, he was really bad last year, this is the first time in his professional career he has seen success, why not end the season on a high note (the minor league season ends like next week) and let him rest for a couple months so he can come in ready to impress in ST and push for a rotation spot? I see no reason to stop his development early for 2, maybe 3 starts in September in meaningless action.

I will ask you again: have you ever actually seen him pitch? Why are you so convinced he is ready to pitch at the major league level?

Another thing he has in common with Cueto, is that the staff at the big league level was in shambles in 2008 just as it is today. If he's good enough next spring to be in the Reds starting 5, then you give him his shot.

I've never seen him pitch, and neither have you. He may be ready for the bigs, he may not be. I'll leave that decision to the people who see him pitch on a regular basis. One thing I do know for sure, I will never assume a pitcher is ready for the bigs, simply by looking at his minor league stats. Minor leagues stats can be very misleading, for many reasons.
