ICYMI: #Cubs set to call up Baez, Berry, Cahill, Wada today. http://atmlb.com/1N7gQrg via @mlb

Also Cubs acquired Austin Jackson from the Mariners yesterday so he may be a new face tonight too.

Tonight's #Cubs lineup has 4 players born in 1992 or later
LF Schwarber (3/5/93)
3B Bryant (1/4/92)
2B Baez (12/1/92)
SS Russell (1/23/94)

That means the Cubs are starting 4 guys born after the Reds won the WS. I wonder if the Reds are starting anyone after the Cubs last won the Series.

@JPosnanski: "Hi, I don't think we've ever met. I'm Joey Votto." "Hi. Theo Epstein." -- An exchange I just saw.

I love that Votto still introduces himself to people in baseball as if every executive in baseball doesn't know who he is. This is a superstar athlete that actually possesses humility.

My son at age 6 bowled a 300 game on the Wii in the 2nd game he ever played

My Dad has 2 perfect games and also an 809 series.....and a hole in one.

I rarely bowled growing up but with my friends at age 14 I began the game with 6 straight strikes and then a lot of people began to watch my pursuit and jinxed me....ended with a 225.

Jerome Bettis rolled a 300 game in front of professional bowlers in a Pro Am....a lot different than bowling a 300 by yourself which is much easier to keep your rhythm.

Chapman pitched almost two innings last night. I'm sure he is not warming up perpetually. He can't warm up every time there's a possible scoring inning by the opposition.

Pretty much, but he had hit for power in the minors between 04-06. This being kind of the last peak for big offense in baseball, it wasn't hard to assume before he came up that he could hit 15-20 HRs a year as a Red.

Reds lose, Cardinals win. Reds officially eliminated from division contention. Eliminated with more than a month to play. How long since they did that?Since we both have a long history with the Reds, you are teetering closely to the idea that 2010-2013 were good years, which is universally rejected here mainly because Johnny B. Baker was the hated manager. Now that we have that cracker jack short timer and much supported and short timer Bryan F. Price in charge, we fall off the face of the earth, even though it's widely because of injuries and wouldn't have anything to do with bad decisions in-game. Never.

Just being a little bitter over the state this team is in. Forgive me.

Yep, and that's the definition of a 4th/5th OF.

In general, that's probably true. But back then, I saw the Reds biggest need as a guy who could hit for a decent average and get on base. Power wasn't an issue IMO. And again, I still feel that's what we're missing...and have been for more than a decade.
