Louisville St. X's Justin Thomas getting a win on Tour seems as good a reason as any to start up the thread for the young golf season.
Anyone catch Tiger's press conference today. He waved the white flag at Nicklaus' record and pretty much insinuated that he's doubtful that he'll ever be competitive again with his back issues. A sad day for golf.

Beats me. Maybe because Tiger is an endorsement machine and could stand to lose a lot of them if he doesn't play again. :dunno:

How did Adam Scott's approach at 18 not go in the water. Instead of playing for 3rd, he's got a chance to up-and--in for the win.

Indeed.
The USGA really botched that penalty/no penalty situation. Leaving out the fact that the same thing happened to another player earlier in the day without penalty, a call has to be made then and there. After hearing the USGA's official's explanation after it happened, it seemed to me they were trying to guilt him into calling the penalty on himself and absolving themselves of the responsibility of penalizing the leader of their national championship. Paul Azinger had a WTF look on his face when the official was explaining the whole thing. It ended up being a moot point but the USGA did not cover themselves in glory. I appreciate them making the course tough. Deep rough, lots of bunkers, narrow fairways, fast greens are all cool. But I think it's going too far when a ball on the green that has been sitting there for minutes all of a sudden moves because of the breeze of a player's practice swing or grounding the putter or even a step in any direction. That's not golf. You can have fast greens without that. Look at Augusta National. The greens there are fast but a ball isn't going to move out of the blue.

Phil with a 63 today. No joke.
He almost set the major record. His putt for 62 was right on line it just lipped out at the end.

So does he shoot 75 tomorrow? Or 76? :)
Would love to see him win this weekend, but I'm still expecting him to blow up and end in the middle of the pack. Hope to be wrong.

More like 69. Usually when Phil blows up it's in the last holes of the final round.
As much as I'd love to see it, I don't see Phil winning.
