Happy Pi day everybody.

Peraza in CF and Iglesias making his spring debut.

Nate Smith a West Chester native is starting for the Angels. No Trout or Pujols for them today.

Two singles for the Angels to right, and then a double-play brings in a runner for them.

Both hits on first pitch fastballs from Iglesias. Gets an opportunity to throw some sliders and changeups/different angles the next two batters.

Iglesias struck out the next batter, the first two Reds lazily flew out, then a single and a walk (or maybe a walk and then a single) got two people on before Barnhart flew out to end the inning.

Iglesias out, Melville in to pitch the second.

Interesting Iglesias only went the one inning, but is his first "start"

Is Peraza seven for his last seven?

That's... pretty solid.

Two outs in 6 pitches for Melville, then a single up the middle. Runner got a stolen base, but then is caught in a rundown on an attempted steal of third to end the inning. Still 1-1 after two.

Scoreless second for Melville. Strikeout, popup, single to center/stolen base/pickoff.

Yeah but he just struck out looking. Bust.

Not sure what happened - had to step away to pen up dogs and close windows since it started to storm - but it's 2-1 LAA, bottom of 3, 1 out, runner on 2nd.

Edit: Walk, now 2 on, 1 out.

Bad time for the walk issue to crop up again for Melville.

Better now than the regular season, I suppose.

Bad for him, though.

Some further control issues for Melville, but with some help from the infield they get out of the inning without giving up any more damage. 2-1 LAA.

Yep.

I'm a secret Peraza hater and believe his noodle bat is so anemic that he's destined to join the pantheon of middle infield banjo hitters whose patron saint is Mario Mendoza.

So, JINX!

Jose Havoc!

Is that our new CF'ers' name?

Boy that 5th inning got out of hand. I will repeat that heading into 2016 I am just not a believer in Jumbo Diaz. He SHOULD be good. He throws very hard, can get swings and misses, and doesn't walk guys. But he's just not effective enough of the time. I think he throws too many meatballs. Hope he proves me wrong and becomes the Reds shutdown closer.
