Simon's re-debut with the Reds. Will this be the Opening Day lineup sans the pitchers?

I'll be there with my Reds cap and Sea Ray logo shirt. Anyone there, come by and say "Hi".

As Dusty Rhodes would say, " I will be there, Live and in pub-lic, if you will..."

I'm assuming Simon will only pitch an inning (maybe 2)?

Pre-game yesterday Price was saying he was hoping for 2+

Phillips has been scratched die to a stiff neck. DeJesus replaces him and bats 8th. Everyone bumps up a spot in the lineup from Schebler to Bruce.

Simon Ks the first batter and gets the 2nd and 3rd batters to both ground out to 2nd. Only threw one "ball" that inning.

Maybe he'll have to retire.

Two scoreless frames for Simon now.

Another ground out to 2nd and two more Ks to take care of the 2nd. Six up, six down, and even threw a change-up (something the announcers said they've never seen him throw before) to get the one K. Looking good for Simon's first outing so far.

Bruuuuuuuuuuuuce with a perfect bunt down the third baseline for a single to start the bottom of the 2nd.

But then a strikeout and Bruce botching a steal attempt and there are suddenly two down.

Edit: Good play by Bryant to end the inning.

I know it's still spring training, but for his first outing of the year, that's pretty impressive.

Ray Chang gets a single and then is quickly picked off.

I'm starting to doubt that Chang will make the team.

Getting ahead of myself, especially as a Simon doubter, but it would be just lovely if he could just keep an ERA under 4.00 until around July and the Reds could sell high.

Dear Lord, half of Chicago showed up at this game today... Sigh

3 perfect innings for Big Pasta in his first outing of spring. Impressive.

But what if the Reds are still in the race?

Reds lose 9-6. Cingrani, O'Grady and Wood combine to allow all 9 runs.

This bullpen is going to cause rioting on RedsZone this summer. Wait, expectations are so low I don't think any of us will really care. I'll probably be rooting for the best draft pick possible by May.

I expected Wood and O'Grady to be sent away before now. I cringe to think that's the best we have.

Reds are off today, March 23. This is their only off day while in Arizona.

It was awfully impressive. No one got any good wood on him the entire outing. Pitch speed on the scoreboard was not working but he was popping the mitt pretty well.

Cingrani on the other hand did not look good at all. Control was a huge issue as was fooling hitters since they could sit on his FB. However an error by Votto probably cost him two outs as his botching of the line drive probably would have resulted in a double play had he handled it

I made an open (friendly) wager to Doug - anyone else is free to take me up on it. This "bullpen" will be in the bottom quarter of the league. Easily.

Bottom quarter isn't exactly going out on a limb though, I think most imagine that's where the Reds will finish overall.

They were in the bottom quarter last year and have lost Chapman.

That's the expectation.

Oh, I'll go further. Bottom 5 risky enough?
