It's worrisome but could be weather.

Reds twitter says it was due to "stiffness".
Good for him.

Why do the Reds do this? This is making me excited for the season, and makes me think we have a chance.

Simon done for day.
4 IP, 3 Hits, 4 ER, 4 Walks, 3 SO, 1 HR
Not a good day, I am expecting he will do etter in GABP. Will Homer returning send him into the pen?
CAve playing, Yankees must not want him back.

Just what I was coming here to check on. I'm assuming this means he remains Reds' property.

Or the waiver period isn't finished.

I may be getting too technical for spring training, since the Reds had Brantley warming up in the pen at one point today, but can a team play someone who's on waivers? I don't recall the situation presenting itself before; it may just be a spring thing.

They can't in the regular season because they aren't on the active roster. In spring training non-roster guys who are in the organization play all the time. Just because he's on waivers doesn't mean he's not in the organization. He's still Reds property until somebody claims him or he's released.

Which explains why Jim Kelch pinch hit in the seventh. Too bad he hit a weak grounder to short.
I guess the question becomes whether the Reds would play Kelch with both him and them knowing he's on the way out of town. I guess we'll find something out in the next few days.

Well I agree the decision to use him is a curious one, but the rules don't prevent it. Didn't Will Ferrell play last Spring? In Spring games, there aren't many restrictions on who can play. If you go to Goodyear next year, take your glove with you in case you have a shot.
