Oh wait, that was me. Sorry. (Does this count?)

I'm going to have to break my own rule tonight. But I hope you hooligans keep it civil. It's just a game. Remember that. (And think about that 2017 draft. No, it's not too early.)

Tom, you're talking about a month (or two) at the end of last season at the Triple-A level (when a lot of young Triple-A players get called up to MLB and Triple-A teams are filled with Double-A players). Things didn't change. He had a lucky month or two against lesser competition. His overall MiLB numbers are dreadful. Seems like a really nice guy. I wish he was good. He appears to be awful IMO.

Lucky is if he suddenly had a big decrease in HRs or unsustainable BABIP. You don't only walk 8 batters in your last 7 starts by luck, he had walked 11 in his last two starts of July alone. it means you've made an adjustment.

And yes, he is pitching awfully.

Ya know, one of my arguments was that Melville could do what Simon would do for cheaper. Melville has a 9.00 ERA and makes the minimum. Simon has a 9.53 ERA and earns $2 million. So I've been right so far. :/

My goodness.......I just looked at Melville's stats in the minors. WTH? Surely............not. Tell me what in the sam heck is going on. Bring up Stephenson, or Villereal or someone. And if we really want to find out about Hamilton, why do we keep batting him 9th? Wouldn't the idea be to get him as many AB's as possible? It's not like they're trying to win this year.

In the sense that a 6.00 ERA is better than a 9.00 ERA, sure. I think by the point Lohse would be ready to go in a major league game that Moscot, Lamb, and possibly Disco will be back, so it wouldn't really be worth the bother.

Yeah, but from 2011-2014 he was the epitome of solid, with a WHIP no higher than 1.168. I choose to believe he didn't forget how to pitch overnight.

And I'd gladly hand the ball to Lohse over Moscot. There are way too many questions with this rotation, health-wise, that it couldn't use Lohse.

Most probably a moot point with this org as paying more than $2 million for a veteran starter doesn't fit with burning down the house.

Didn't talk George long to go from "Boy is Billy good" to "Boy is Holliday good. And how about that Jim Edmonds?"

He really missed his life's calling as the Cardinals announcer.

Because he's earning $2 million and might as well be asked to pitch in more than 0.2 innings.

I don't think Simon will even miss a start. He only pitched an inning the other day, it was probably his "throwing on the side" day and they used him. The whole idea is to use him as much as they can.

None of this matters. The only things that matter are Finnegan and Iglesias' starts. Getting Disco, et al healthy. And the good work so far of Stephenson, Garret, Romano, Mella and others in the minors.

The rest of this is boring but irrelevant.

Good point. If it's his throw on the side day, we can't blame him for not being effective. He's literally just getting his work in.

The badness of this team is really settling in now. When you start to regularly give up football like scores you know the pitching is truly awful. Going to be a long season folks..............
