If any of the current Reds players were to celebrate 4/20 I wonder which one it would be.

My guesses: Billy Hamilton, Dan Straily, and Tony Cingrani

I believe that means there is feed via MLB.com ie: their own announcers and not the Rockies/Reds broadcasts.

I think people in Cincinnati will get to see the game on MLB Network. I think those of us in the Reds viewing area, but outside of Cincinnati, will get Cubs Cardinals. Like getting two middle fingers from MLB Network. Thanks.

I have to say, I love how the Reds are handling Cozart and Rocco. Err on the side of caution, plus it really seems to be helping Cozart at the plate to get the extra rest. Mesoraco is starting to see the ball better, and I think his timing is coming around too. Day game after a night game heading into 4 with the Cubs. Good time to get both of them another day off.

Blargh, MLB.com audio isn't working (at least for me), so may not be able to recap as easily since I can listen while working better than watch while working.

Two pitches to record the first out for Iglesias, as Joey leaps to grab a sharply hit liner for out number one.
Two more pitches, and Story grounds out to De Jesus for out number two.
And two more pitches as CarGo grounds out to the left side for out number three.

Three up, three down on six pitches for one Mr. Raisel Iglesias in the first inning.

androosh

Story makes a nice play at short to throw out Billy, Billy, Billy by a step to record the first out.
Suarez first pitch swinging breaks his bat on a slow grounder to third and is thrown out rather easily for the second out.
Votto makes us continue to think the sky is falling as he strikes out swinging after working the count full. He should have walked on the 5th pitch of the at bat, but the ump decided the strike zone was higher than it should have been.

androosh
04-20-2016, 12:49 PM
Joey whyThe second strike was definitely a ball. I haven't gotten to watch as many games as I would have liked so far this year, but I wonder how much of Votto's issue is him knowing the strike zone better than the umpires and them calling pitches incorrectly?

Just as long as we don't do something silly like make the umpiring consistent by automating ball and strike calls. I mean, the automated system gets one wrong occasionally, and we wouldn't want that.

Price apparently hasn't made a decision on Hoover yet, but has said he probably won't pitch today so has another day to make the decision.

Suarez makes a diving catch at third after four pitches from Raisel to record the first out of the second inning.
Billy grabs an easy fly ball in center after four more pitches for the second out.
Iglesias struggles to find the plate against Reynolds, but strikes him out on 6 pitches.

Iglesias: 20 pitches, 0 hits, 0 walks, 0 runs, 1 strikeout through two.

Phillips rips a liner past a diving shortstop for a single to start the bottom of the second.
Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuccceeeeeee knocks in two with a home run to right center field. Now has as many home runs as Adam Dunn for the most HRs ever at GABP. 2-0 Reds.
Duuuuuuuuuuvallllllllllll has a great 7 (or 8?) pitch at bat before launching one to deep left for back to back home runs. 3-0 Reds.
Barnhart tries to make it back-to-back-to-back as he hits one deep on the first pitch, but it's about 20 feet too short for the first out.
De Jesus wants in on the HR action as well, swings at the first pitch, and sends one deep that dies about three feet before the wall for the second out.
Iglesias shows some power as well as he swings at the first pitch and sends one to the warning track before being caught by the RFer on the run to end the inning.

Raisel has trouble finding the plate on three of the first four pitches to the second batter, but comes back and strikes him out looking on the next two pitches for the second out.
Iglesias throws a dandy of a breaking ball to strike out his counterpart looking on four more pitches to end the inning.

Billy wants to be moved back to 9th in the batting order as he grounds out to the second baseman on two pitches for the first out.
Suarez works the count full, and on the seventh pitch grounds out to the shortstop for the second out.
Votto strikes out swinging on three pitches to end the inning, as strikes two and three were right down the middle of the plate and he only half/check swings at them. He is now 0 for his last 14.

Iglesias gives up his first hit on a ground ball past a diving Phillips, as LeMahieu singles on the fourth pitch of his at bat.
He comes back to strike Story out swinging on four pitches, on a pitch way out of the strike zone for the first out.
Gonzalez hits a ball clear down the third base line against the shift after five pitches to double home MeMahieu. 3-1 Reds.
The run and double seem to have rattled Iglesias a bit as he walks the next batter on four pitches.
Parra swings on the first pitch after a visit to the mount and singles right up the middle, bringing in a run. 3-2 Reds.
Reynolds chases a bad pitch out of the zone to strike out on three pitches for the second out.
Raisel's 27 pitch inning finally comes to a close as Paulsen lines out to left center field after a six pitch at bat.

Iglesias: 61 pitches, 3 hits, 1 walk, 2 runs, 5 strikeouts through four.

So, the Reds don't use a pinch hitter in the bottom of the 7th with a runner in scoring position, just so they can leave Blake Wood in? And he responds by giving up a hit then a walk? That's just beautiful managing by Bryan Price right there. Schebler was even on the on-deck circle. Just take Wood out and put Cingrani in to start the inning. And you might be up by 4 or more and not "just" 3 if you wouldn't have given away the final out of the 7th by allowing a relief pitcher (who isn't even good) to bat for himself.

Not looking to have Hayes make his major league debut in the 8th or 9th inning of a 3 run lead. We're 3 weeks into the season and yesterday was the first time we saw a starter go 7 innings.
