I'm afraid pitchers have a new plan of attack with Votto: bust him inside, rinse, repeat.

Why would anyone ever try anything else with him? He's always done most of his damage on anything middle/out.

JMO, and I'm not saying he can't make the adjustment.

I agree. This is not a criticism on Votto, but from my amateur scouting point of view, he seems to take a lot of inside strikes.
If I was a pitcher, that's how I would pitch him (again, not claiming to be a genius or anything)
I'm sure Votto will be fine in the long run, not worried at all.

Few things piss me off more than when this team makes a really bad pitcher a pet project.

Seven different Cubs have an RBI tonight.

my favorite line of the night goes to Welsh while speaking on tonights success of Ramirez...."this staff, bullpen is one where you can quickly climb the totem pole".....ya think?!

When Thom is scolding Cubs fans for their behavior then you know things are a mess. Hoover needed to back someone off the plate himself. Price from what I have seen since he became the PC......has never been an advocate of pitching inside.

Not sure about that. He may be gone. Like....gone.

That was hard to watch. Not even mad at Hoover any more. He looked about to cry. Price should be ashamed of himself for allowing this to continue to go on that long.

This has to be the end of this dude's Reds career. Throw us a bone.

And I was talking for his career too not just this year. It is horrible.

Given how pedestrian his stuff has always been...that 6.8 career H/9IP is bewildering.

I think it's an even year thing. You know, the Giants win the world series and JJ Hoover blows up. Just stick him in Lou until 2017

It's true. Hoover has earned the longer leash he's gotten because of past performance, but Servo's right. He looks cooked.

You will see JJ again. He's one of Price's favorites

Hoover may be done. No point in being mad, the Reds just aren't that good. The bullpen is downright laughable.

Oh I'm not mad at him,in fact I feel kinda sorry for him. I've just grown tired of watching him get beat like a drum..

Hoover may be done. No point in being mad, the Reds just aren't that good. The bullpen is downright laughable. If were really honest, JJ was done two years ago. He pitched last year and it finally caught up with him late in the season. He was horrible in ST and now this. Some say his velocity is down. I say he needs to go. Of course, you could say that about over half the pitching staff, too. It's easy to not really get too upset because the rebuild doesn't seem to have the answers.

What do you mean the rebuild doesn't seem to have the answers? You expect the team to already be rebuilt?

Can he be sent down? I assume yes but I am not sure if he has options.

Price and Walt honestly abused him 2 years ago by sending him out when he clearly didn't have it over and over and now it starts again. I just hope it isn't July when they decide to do something.

The sad part about this season so early is that the run differential is too far out of whack to get back to 500.

What do you mean the rebuild doesn't seem to have the answers? You expect the team to already be rebuilt? No, I do not. What I'm saying is that the bullpen has woefully been neglected and filled with no-talents with some exceptions. With the pen usually pitching 40% of games, that part seemed to be neglected.

Got to give JJ and jumbo lots of credit: two veterans who were handed golden opportunities by default, and neither one of them could get out of their own way. Way to step up guys.

The bullpen will follow the rotation rebuild.

In the old days you could just hide Hoover in the pen as a seldom used mop up man but this years pen has no room for that position as there are at least 6 mop up men in the pen. If they just used JJ in that role he'll lead the staff in appearances.:help:
