Somebody help me here...Isn't "Nieuwenhuis" Dutch for "Newhouse"?

And didn't he play for the Mets last year, when they were considering changing their name to the Nieuw-Amsterdam Mets, with players like Nieuwenhuis, Syndergaard, and DeGrom?

Anderson is 2-0 with a 0.44 ERA and .919 WHIP against the Reds. In his career over 3 seasons he's 6-16 with a 4.29 ERA and 1.376 WHIP in 53 career big-league starts over three seasons.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of bunting in that situation, but it's somewhat understandable even though I disagree with it.

But bunting with two strikes there? That is just the height of stupidity. It doesn't matter tonight (probably). Reds are rolling. But just another illustration of why Price is over his head. And if Billy did that on his own, he should be benched immediately. Can you imagine a player bunting with two strikes on his own for a good manager? It would never fly. But something tells me Billy didn't do it on his own. Bunt-happy Price just foolishly kept the bunt on.

Sometimes managers or players take risks. Probably somebody saw the infield moved back and decided to take the risk.

It doesn't make them stupid, Bryan Price is far from stupid. Maybe Billy saw something and did it himself.
It was a risk play with one out and a five run lead.

Sometimes those plays work and the manager then gets kudos.

Simon's success comes with grounders. When his two-seamer, or whatever, pitch hangs he's toast. When it sinks, he'll get the grounders.

So far tonight, the sinker is working. That's really all it is with him. He mixes in a bigh fastball, like the last one, when he thinks it's unexpected.

Hopefully he can keep that sinking fastball working for more innings tonight and in any future outings.

Yeah, on the negative side I watched him last year a few times. Simon got into more trouble beginning with the sixth inning in those games.

He said he had a knee injury, so that might account for it. Knee flared up about the same point in several games.

If he's healthy, hopefully he can go deeper tonight.

C. Trent just tweeted a link to an article he has up about the improvements Hamilton has made at the plate. In the article there is a direct quote from Billy saying he likes the idea of hitting second because if Cozart doubles, he has a chance to work on his bunting.

Hmmm. Maybe Price isn't so dumb after all.

Hope he can go another two innings or so to rest the pen. I'm sure the Reds would let him throw 150 pitches, but he needs to keep being effective.

I'm a Price supporter. But he seems to be invested in Hoover. And the team generally loves Hoover because he's a great individual, as I understand. I really don't care who is deciding to keep him on the staff. Williams, Jocketty, Price, Riggins, Castellini, whomever.
