I'm interested in seeing Adelman's second outing. He actually looked as if he might be competent, what with him throwing strikes and all. I haven't seen either of the last two games because the semester is ending, but I just turned in my last bit of work, I think, and I'm ready for a game.

If Adelman, Simon and Straily can all average 5-6 IP a game for awhile, that would be a big help for the Reds in terms of protecting the pen and the young prospects. I am cautiously optimistic that they can.

Ron Madden

Adleman pitched far better than I expected last time out. Lets hope he spins a gem tonight.

I don't know if I am more impressed that the Reds saw something in Adelman that no one else did, or disappointed that they thought that Melville was ahead of him.

Is there a rule for how long you need to keep possession of the ball? Cause Carter was out for a good several seconds before the ball came loose.

Nice play by Suarez btw, he muffed one of those bare handers earlier in the year.

Cingrani made the move to full time reliever last spring, March 2015.

Last year all but one of his Reds outings was in the bullpen.

It seems to me that now, finally, he seems comfortable in the pen. Hopefully he can build on this and become a good reliever.

In Cingrani's case, the transition to the pen was not automatic.

Didn't he pitch pretty much the same way as a starter?

Not sure what that means. He had a great 2013 as a starter. He had an injury riddled 2014 as a starter primarily. He had a bad year in 2015 primarily as a reliever. Now he is having a much better year in 2016 as a reliever.

I meant he had control problems as a starter and he's had control problems outta the Pen.

Other than not allowing any HRs yet, there's not a huge difference.

I like Cingrani, but he's still firmly on the bubble. Not really a success story yet.

Ok, but the full year to transition to the bullpen appears to have helped. His ERA is down over two runs per nine compared to 2015. His FIP is down over one run per nine. He seems more confident now as a reliever.

Very fine outing tonight for him.
