Because the book on baseball Dusty left Bryan says "if a player is playing well, you should sit them so they don't burn out while they are playing well."

No I don't think there is. I posted my thoughts in this in last night's game thread. I think the Reds will have Bailey, Iglesias and Desclafani back and Reed up by the All Star Break. Lorenzen, Adelman, Finnegan/Iglesias/ or Straily, and Moscot will join the pen with Simon around as a long man at most. With a Rotation of Bailey, Desclafani, Reed, and two of Straily/ Iglesias/Finnegan and an improved pen, I think the Reds will be a .500 team in the second half. I would be shocked if they finish behind Atlanta and get the first pick. If they do finish with a worse record than Atlanta, it will be on purpose.

At least someone gets it..

Replace 'you need to drive in runs' with "you need to not make outs" and I agree. IMO that statement is just a veiled attempt to say "expand the zone and drive in that run". That garbage was driven into the ground the last few years. Not buying it. He just needs to be himself...right now, he's Paul Janish at the plate.

I truly think that Votto needs to re-think his plate approach given the change in the way pitchers have approached him this season.

He's being pounded inside (where he hasn't hit effectively in 3 years.) Which means that when he gets a hittable pitch in the middle or outer third, he needs to hammer it. He lets so many good pitches go by, then is forced to hit with 2 strikes.

And, yes, this might mean he walks a little less.

Yeah, that was Edwin's flaw. But its not like he had a bad arm. He had a rocket. And he could throw accurately...but he'd lose focus and just wing it over to first without focusing on the fundamentals...and WHOOPS...into the stands. Eugenio has the same problem. Focus.
