https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wright_brothers

The Wright brothers, Orville (August 19, 1871 – January 30, 1948) and Wilbur (April 16, 1867 – May 30, 1912), were two American brothers, inventors, and aviation pioneers who are generally credited[1][2][3] with inventing, building, and flying the world's first successful airplane. They made the first controlled, sustained flight of a powered, heavier-than-air aircraft on December 17, 1903, four miles south of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.

Straight from the horse's mouth: Wright doesn't have a radar gun busting fastball but has shown he knows how to pitch. The strikeout totals above indicate a power arm but Wright knows his limitations.

"I'm a control pitcher. I'm not going to blow people away with the fastball. I try to locate on both sides of the plate and throw off speeds when I need to and not for strikes when I need to. When you're in the zone early and get ahead of hitters the strikeouts tend to come. That's my style I try to get ahead so. I'm not pitching behind in count because I don't necessarily have the stuff to get away with it."

I like it, but let's see how his stuff plays in the Bigs.

Is he a Mike Leake/Kyle Hendricks type (we can hope).

Or a Jon Moscot type?

I don't really care about that kind stuff, I just want results. But it's something I've noticed. He almost makes Votto seem like Mr. Personality.

:p

. You gave him Orville and Wilbur and not Harry and George? Seriously?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Wright

[Harry]Wright left New York on March 8, 1865, bound for Cincinnati, where he had been hired on salary at the Union Cricket Club.[8] When baseball boomed less than a year later in 1866, the first full peacetime season, he became, in effect, club pro at the Cincinnati Base Ball Club, although he is commonly called simply a baseball "manager" from that time. By now, Wright was 31, probably past his athletic prime.

Cincinnati fielded a strong regional club in 1867. With Wright working as the regular pitcher, and still a superior player at that level, the team won 16 matches and lost only to the Nationals of Washington, D.C. on their historic tour. For 1868 he added four players from the East and one from the crosstown Buckeye club, a vanquished rival. The easterners, at least, must have been compensated by club members if not by the club.

When the NABBP permitted professionalism for 1869, Harry augmented his 1868 imports (retaining four of five) with five new men, including three more originally from the East. No one but Harry Wright himself remained from 1867; one local man and one other westerner joined seven easterners on the famous First Nine. The most important of the new men was brother George, probably the best player in the game for a few years, the highest paid man in Cincinnati at $1400 for nine months. George at shortstop remained a cornerstone of Harry's teams for ten seasons.

The Red Stockings toured the continent undefeated in 1869 and may have been the strongest team in 1870, but the club dropped professional base ball after the second season, its fourth in the game. As it turned out, the Association also passed from the scene.

It wouldn't surprise me as they're so young, and the pitchers not being close to hitting the target makes it tough. The ump is less inclined to be fulled if the mitts going across the zone to catch the ball.

Not just the MLB stuff, minor league as well. We've had this discussion before, but I think Moscot needs more time in the minors, specifically in AAA where he's been a bit Holmberg-ian with BB/9 and K/9 rates too close to each other.

Moscot's control is good, he's typically had good walk rates.

He did in the lower minors. But if you can't even get a K/9 up to 6.0, you can't have a BB/9 over 3.0 and be successful. Moscot hasn't been consistent with control in AAA and MLB so far.

True, but losing begats losing. If you go into every game with little chance of winning, everyone is just looking for a way to get out of there. It started in 2014, continued in 2015, and now we have this. It's going to be a long time getting back to contending. I imagine Price's time is about up and I can say it couldn't happen soon enough.

For every inning under 7 IP a SP goes take a shot.
Take a shot every error.
Take a shot for ever SO by reds batters.
Take a shot for every run by bullpen.
Take a shot every walk

Who am I kidding, people would die playing this game. Maybe take away the walk rule or bullpen run, maybe that will make it safer on a good night.

Getting guys like Reed, Bailey, Iglesias, Disco, Stephenson, Peraza, etc. on the roster will at least make things entertaining. In fact, I've decided not to even entertain the idea of buying a ticket to go see a game until a majority of those guys are back/up and playing.

However, I've never seen -- well since the 80's -- a team this bad and it's not going to get any better this year. I imagine it will be tough to get a 10,000 crowd the rest of the way. Many think that with a better team that Price would flourish, but he wouldn't. Many think that blowing the team up would help, but the losing would continue. Poor planning is the culprit on all fronts. If the Reds meet my 61-101, which I doubt, it will be basically a miracle. In the meantime, we lose and plenty of it. The losing will continue.
