Ryan Zimmerman went on paternity leave. So the Reds won't see him this weekend. They brought up one their big prospects in Trea Turner to replace him.

I hate that call. That's not the spirit of the rule. That runner wasn't out for 100 years, shouldn't be out now. There should be some sort of "possession of the base" rule. Once you are on the bag, unless you obviously attempt to leave or you over slide completely, then it should be your bag.

I'm still on the fence. I'm a fan and I want to see him succeed as a starter, but he's just 23 and it's a process. It's just frustrating to see him walk more guys than he's striking out of late at the big league level. That's the quickest way to get booted from starting.

Watching Cozart get a big hit tonight, somebody must have told him to concentrate on hitting the first strike.
Swinging early in the count and focusing on hitting that first good pitch has really helped Zack.
Maybe he pressed as he waited for deeper counts, maybe he became defensive in his swing later in the count. Dunno.
His OBP is limited this way, he doesn't draw walks, but his hitting has been fabulous the last two seasons. Somebody gets kudos for this change.

I'm a fan and am absolutely keeping him in the rotation this year, but the BB/K ratio is concerning. In his last 7 starts he's got 23 strikeouts to 19 walks. The fact that he is successful with it isn't really comforting.
