Apparently last night Todd Coffey trying to make a last effort for the bigs was called into the game for his Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League and on his sprint in from the bullpen got right to the edge of the mound where he typically puts on the brakes but instead tripped , took two more steps and steamrolled the awaiting manager and catcher. The catcher had to go to the hospital for pancakeitis and the manager is looking to get him reassigned.

*Editor's note...this story with an incredible run on sentence and made up words is of course completely fabricated on one of my hopes for when Mr. Coffey entered a ball game.

I like Ivan, I think he's got a solid bat for a reserve. But he is not a shortstop, or a left fielder (if you remember that September disaster). Just because a guy has a glove doesn't mean he can play a position.

I'm guessing they will give Moscot some more chances starting with the Reds. He is coming off a long injury layoff. He was excellent for three today, then made a bad pitch and things went downhill.

My guess is Simon is primed to go to the pen, where he has experience. Disco enters the rotation, Moscot stays. When Bailey is ready or when Reed/Stephenson need to come up, then another decision point.

I'd boot him, but you're acting like he's been around for years and they keep bringing him back. He started 2 games last year and got hurt early in his third. He's been between the DL and the rotation so far this year.

Moscot, lifetime, has 33 innings of major league experience, including today. I think the Reds will give him more time than that.

The Reds seem to be patient enough and it's a good policy. Particularly with guys who have been injured.

The famous insanity joke requires much more than 33 innings.

Wasn't a good throw. Barnhart could have caught it, but it wasn't a good throw.

A more experienced third baseman takes his time and it's probably a DP.

It wasn't in the dirt, it was just low. It's location likely prevented a DP from being turned, but it was 100% catchable and Barnhart whiffed on it.

We can put an asterisk on it and file it, it wasn't a good throw by Suarez. But it's not the reason two runs scored.

Effing terrible. I walk back in from mowing and it's 10-9 no outs and bases loaded.

Pressure is on the PITCHER!!!!!!!

Not with the Reds. What moron scout thinks Papelbon is going to give in a throw a hittable strike on the first pitch to a rookie? Terrible at bat by Duvall and Cozart followed suit.

Glad I came back in perfect time to jinx them. Screw Papelbon

BABIP is a damn *****. Bloop single to center, basehit off the mound, basehit up the middle just past De Jesus. Bases loaded, no outs.

I felt bad for Wright in yesterday's game. Just an entire inning of lousy luck. Only one earned run, but that inning and the game itself could have looked a lot different with better luck. I agree with those that it was nice to win another series, but this game can be maddening.

Should have mowed a few more minutes. Reds would have won then. ;)

For 2 1/3 games the Reds looked like a big league team. Then all at once they reverted back to 2016 form. Bad defense, bad pitching and a chance with one clutch it to win the game, they utterly fail. I think the real Reds team stood up, unfortunately.
I will say if the Nats go into the post season with Papelbon as their closer they will be doomed. Most of his outings are like yesterday. Dancing that fine line of getting outs. He's getting away with it for the most part now but he won't in the post season. Dusty will be just setting himself up for more post season disappointment if he sticks with Papelbon as his closer.
