A 12:35 start!

Good thing the pens are rested!

Billy just now to his feet. Total freak play. Just right angle to hit him in the heads. Walking out through the bullpen. Another 7 day DL stint coming?

Replays show it was really Duvall's fault. Should have been caught, and by whiffing on it, it hit Billy in the head.

Billy up and moving, but obviously done for the day with Holt coming in.

Oh yeah, and it's 3-0 and still no outs in the first. This game blows.

Tom Servo

Reed gives up some looooong fly balls tracked down at the wall by Bruce. He seems a bit out of sorts stuff wise after those first three batters and the delay.

Logically I understand why, but it's going to annoy me all day that Reed was charged with 3 runs in that stupid inning.

I could tell, you ain't giving him any sort of mulligan for that inside-the-parker!

The stuff plays. He just has the same bad strategies (see: the pitches to Contreras and Baez) that the other Reds pitchers have.

Execution beats stuff. I haven't seen particularly good execution from him. The Astros game was OK, though it unravelled a little toward the end for him. But his last two games are nothing to write home about.

Coming into today's game, Reed's BABIP .400. Today it's currently .556. Obviously, a lot of that has to do with throwing hittable stuff, but as he settles down I think we'll see those numbers come down considerably. xFIP likes him a lot, 3.16 coming into today's game.

I like that he's striking out guys and not walking a ton. Of course, a better start than what we've witnessed over the first three games would be nice, but I'm still buying all the Cody Reed stock I can.

With the decorative columns and stuff, would be pretty nifty.

All made with wood, burnt to the ground too

They had a bar underneath the leftfield line, had chicken wire between the field and the patron's, who drank hard stuff as well as beer

Chicken wire?

Why is Sampson throwing 65 pitches in a lost game? Jumbo should be taking over by now, but now Sampson is gonna be unavailable next time he's needed.

This is why Price needs to go and a prime example how he's playing prerty crappy even with the crappy hand he's been dealt.

Mike Cameron did have a great arm. Always wanted the Braves to get him for that very reason.

I was too young a kid to recall specifics about how good Geronimo's arm was. That being the case, Dave Parker is by far the best arm I can recall in the Reds' OF. Bruce in his prime would have to be in there, too.

WGN said League Park did in 1901 before the Reds were in the palace for a decade after that...did they both burn down?

Sampson runs out of gas in his third inning, but Price wanted him to learn a lesson. Double switch coming, with JUMBO! coming in to pitch, and Ivan Jr. replacing Peraza at SS.

Yeah this is weird. Maybe the plan now is to just send Sampson down after today, and have him make his next start in Louisville in 5 days.

Palace was made of wood and did have small fires prior to the rebuild, but League Park was a large fire. That was the beginning of steel parks. All built in that era, Forbes, Crosley, Ebetts, Shibe, Comiskey, Braves, Fenway, Wrigley, Polo Grounds (3) Sportsman

I never that about that but it does kind of make a lot of sense that dead ball era parks would've been constructed way differently.

The Palace had a capacity of 6,000 no less!

WGN announcers talking retaliation. I know, blah blah blah show Bryant you got his back. But a good team like the Cubs have way more to lose engaging in a beanball war than a bad team like the Reds. So that'd be pretty stupid.
