I see no way the Reds can lose.

Reds 6
Marlins 4

Also....just FYI so everyone knows. I hope the Reds sweep the Fish and only allow 3 runs each game on 3 Stanton bombs. Just saying.

I look for Yelich to be their best player this series though.

Also, we'll finally get to see the BHam inside the park HR this series. (Feels like Sunday for that)

Glad to see Billy up in the order. Much better chance to use his speed, imo. Votto in the 2 hole just seemed like a waste to me.

Fernandez on the mound at home -- :help:

Agreed with Hamilton, but Votto getting on base with 2 out is even more of a waste.

It may seem normal to long time baseball fans, but I grew up watching unnatural hulking mass Barry Bonds and so it's weird to see slim Barry Bonds.

1-0 Fish after the first on a pair of doubles.

Only two innings so far, but Fernandez might throw a perfect game tonight.

I declared a No-Hitter Alert about 30 minutes before first pitch.

Of course, I was at the Marlins-Dbacks game a few weeks ago where Jose had a perfect game into the 6th and was derailed with 5 consecutive hits.

I watched that one, it was odd how he suddenly seemed to lose it.

Marlins hitting them where they ain't so far.

Barnhart with a single to shallow center. Straily sac bunt moves Tucker to 2nd.

@ZachENQ: Looked a bit like Jose Fernandez was giving Tucker a little props for getting a hit off him

Good lord, Billy basically GOADED Stanton into a slight bobble on a single to right and goes to 2nd because of it

What the hell? The Reds had a deal in place with Fernandez when he was in high school? Ugh. I never knew this. Did any of you?

It fell apart because he won his appeal and was allowed to play his senior year of HS baseball. Therefore, he entered the 2012 draft, where the Marlins took him at 14. Before that, he was ruled a FA and the Reds had a deal in place with him. Wow.

This is all per legendary JTM pitchman Chris Welsh.

Duvall RBI double with a great slide. 1-1.

Actually a single and E7, but still got the RBI.

Tony Cloninger

Anyone want to explain why Duvall was freaking running? Did he think he was faster than he was, Billy Hatcher being Billy Hatcher?

Nice hitting against a tough pitcher tonight. Can Strailey not give it back right away by walking people?

William Hamilton is good at playing centerfield.

The bunt is the worst. Rally killer almost every time.

Giving away outs is such a 1960s way to approach the game.

Great D from Joey and Billy, but you have to score runs when you have runners on the corners with the pitcher, Cozart (sorry, he's coming back to the old Cozart), and Hamilton coming up. I don't know the answer, but a great opportunity missed here

Billy's speed caused two errors in the OF and then sacrificed his body again to rob a lead off triple. It's difficult to measure his worth.

Straily with a quality start so far on 90 pitches, thanks in large part due to the defense's help.

Blake Wood tosses a scoreless 7th.

Fernando Rodney, clean-shaven per Mattingly's rules but still with tilted cap, with a scoreless 8th. He looked shot with Seattle, surprised he's back to looking like his vintage self.

If it was up to me analytics would focus on bases acquired and bases prevented/allowed instead of runs.

Mattingly wants his players clean shaven? Didn't he sport a 70s porn stache in his playing days?

Tom Servo

Chris Welsh thinks it's interesting that both Walt and Dick are in attendance here in Miami.

Walt is working with his iPad, while Dick is on a laptop. Another sign of the rift.

I think he's enforcing the Yankees rules where mustaches are okay and that's it. No sideburns.

And he had long sideburns until Monty Burns took care of him.

(Simpsons people maintain that this was done before Mattingly underwent a long-hair-benching (http://www.hardballtimes.com/tht-live/20th-anniversary-of-don-mattinglys-hair-related-benching/), but I'm skeptical.)

but I'd lay even money on Burns being the next Reds manager. Marge would've liked him.

Trade him. Reds could use another bag of magic beans. By the end of the season there will be one page game threads. There were plenty of those during 00's by the time football started.
