My issue isn't even so much BP being in the lineup, though I don't love it, as it is Peraza's development being stalled by constantly sitting on the bench. If they send Peraza down tomorrow to Louisville then fine, play Phillips until he's got a broken bone in every part of his body, whatever.

He's a gamer man...and if he struggles, well he's got a broken bone.

Phillips knew what he was doing staying in Cincy! He can do no wrong. I will be in GABP on 5/7/2018 for his 2,000th career hit, 5/28/2018 for his 1,000th run. 8/22/2018 for his 2,000th game, 5/17/2019 for his 1,000th RBI, 6/16/2024 for his 200th HR and 6/29/2026 for his 500th career walk.

I hope Peraza gets sent out when Lambs spot in rotation comes up. It is beyond stupid to let him sit on bench. They will have to bring up Stephenson or who ever to pitch. I would guess it will be either Peraza or Waldrop going down. Can't see it being a reliever.

FWIW....not mad either way on Peraza. I feel he should get 50 starts the rest of the way, but also don't greatly care. I don't care if Phillips plays or not, but a Reds win makes each evening a little better.

I don't know but I honestly desperately wish they would hire the man do the actual games. I can't believe they went with guys like "The Bad Boy" or Kelch whenever Hoard has ostensibly been available each time.

Hoard + Welsh would be like a Reds TV booth dream team for me.

Finnegan threw 96 pitches tonight.
We've had this argument, I think sometimes it's prudent to give them a pat on the backside on a high note. The first start after the All-Star Break with Finnegan pushing 90 pitches going into the 6th and the Reds with a decent lead would have been a good time for it.

I just don't think it's a prerequisite for a 23-year-old spending his first full year in a pro ball rotation that he must go 6 or 7 innings every start.

I can see the argument against 120 pitch outings. But asking him to go into the sixth inning and throw 96 pitches doesn't seem too much to me.

Main thing, though, is that it's a fair judgment call and I don't see how Price can be criticized for this.

It's so hard to measure Hamilton's full value.

The number of incredible OF plays that literally no one else can make + the number of times his speed has played a part in a defensive player rushing the play causing a bobble or an error + the number of times he has been on base and just driven the pitcher nuts and helped him miss over the plate.

It shouldn't be that big of a deal him going deeper than usual tonight. Especially since he's only been going 3-4 innings as of late. You're not asking him to go 9. If they are training him to be a starter they can't wuss out and pull him after 5 every time he's doing well. Maybe he blows the lead but maybe he learns to pitch out of it. On the other hand, if he's going to the bullpen then it doesn't matter how long he goes.

I really like Dan Hoard being a part of the Reds telecast..

Wish he had a job calling PBP .. he could be the best PBP guy they have outta the whole bunch.

Iglesias seems too good to be pitching 2 inning stints out of the pen in this sort of game. Really hope the management has plans to try him has a starter again.
