I put one thing about Straily rolling thru the lineup and within 60 seconds he gives up a blast for a HR....then I purposely misspell Bumgarner's last name and did it about 10 different ways and as soon as I give in and spell his last name correctly...Votto breaks up the perfect game with maybe his softest hit of the season.

Guess I'll go back to my highly irritating ways. Deal with it...trying to win ball games folks [emoji3]

I would have preferred to keep Iggy in purely because he is so much better than match ups

Cozart!!

Even if you were playing matchups, Iglesias matches up better with the first three batters of the inning. Crawford is the first batter against whom Cingrani might be the better matchup.

Reds just hang on for the win. 4 series wins in a row to start the 2nd half. Enjoyable game to be able to catch over here. Good pitching and a timely home run from Bruce. Night all.

Price survived today. I would still have kept Iglesias in the game.

Isn't amazing how many nightmare trips to SF we've had with GOOD Reds clubs, that this particular unit goes out there and plays like this? :dunno:

Maybe it's just anecdotal evidence, but it seems like the Reds are pretty competitive with the Giants at AT&T in recent years.

Playing at San Diego and Los Angeles, however, is a whole different ballgame.

On game day Tony was throwing the hell out of the ball- 96 mph and never once in the same spot.

I wonder if any fans ever look at Box Scores anymore?

Straily would have pitched a shutout if they had packed the red jerseys on the trip.

at the pace of the last few games -- I'm thinking .500 is in sight at the end --- you are just too pessimistic :mooner:

"anecdotal", had to look that one up, used correctly also, and I thought Klu was all biceps. I do think they have been playing well in SF recently. Not too long ago I think they swept 4 game series.

Jim Maloney in the booth!!!!

My favorite Pitcher when I was a kid..

Mine too, he's the reason I became a Reds fan.

For what it's worth, Cingrani is better vs. RH hitters than LH.

And the first 4 hitters were combined 2-18 vs. Cingrani before todays game.

I would have left Iggy in too, as he's simply the better pitcher.

I feel that neither point was the reason Cingrani was used.

I'm glad Jim Maloney has a good relationship with the Reds.

I don't remember him as a player, but he was the senior member of the Reds when I was born.

I'm sorry I missed him yesterday. I love listening to him when they go into SF every year. I wish I could have seen him pitch. He was one of the best in the 60's but no one ever mentions him anymore outside of Cincinnati. Part of that 10 inning no hitter used be on You Tube. It was like only an inning or two. I don't know if it still is or not?

Four straight winning series. That's good progress. But I'm afraid the Reds are going to mess up all this good karma and trade Bruce and/or Cozart for a bunch of magic beans and we will right back losing more often than not.

The only reason you don't trade Bruce and Cozart is if you think they can contend with them next season.

It's also a good way to make sure they don't contend next season or for a few seasons thereafter.
