Pirates come into this series after two embarrassing series losses in Milwaukee and Atlanta. They have struggled against bad teams for a few years now. Last night's game was pathetic. Guys not running hard down the line (Jaso grounded into a double play without even leaving the batters box. Yes, that really happened.) a bunch of unearned runs because of terrible defense, and the offense was nonexistent against terrible pitchers. This is a big series for Pittsburgh. Either they will get back on track, or loss yet another series to a bad team. The Bucs have sucked against the Reds the past few years.

1. Billy
2. Joey
3. Duvall
4. Schebler
5. Cozart
6. Phillips
7. Suarez
8. Barnhart

I just really want Joey after Billy. If you want Cozart to lead off or Schebler once he cooks off fine.

I do not like virtually anyone else behind Billy if he's up in the lineup

Boy has his line plummeted, rather predictably. Why isn't Josh Bell up and playing?

That's the million dollar question. It appears that the only person that doesn't think he should be called up is the GM.

I'm going to set the over/under for total players hit in this series at 8.

1-0 Reds on RBI single by BP after singlesby Cozart and Votto

Suarez threw the ball high. His improvement has ended. Cut him.

ScotlandRed

Another E by Suarez at 3B. Seems like when he tried to go even slightly side arm with the throw he can't locate it properly, which was always be the case when he's on the move.

I'm happy the Reds didn't trade Disco. I think he's going to be solid for a good while.

Error cost Disco an additional 7 pitches to get out of that inning.

1-0 Reds.

As good as that play was, they should have given his home address!

I really like Descalfani but seems like he lacks a proper put a way pitch when he gets 2 strikes on hitters

If you guys get the chance, you should check out a couple Reds games at PNC park sometime. I took my daughter for a series in April. It is a great park.

Schebler still prone to swinging at the high fastball

Up got a big zone inside to RHH and outside to LHH a lot of balls getting called strikes there.

I've been there about 15 times over the years. As a Reds fan living about halfway between Columbus and Wheeling, driving to Pittsburgh is a much easier drive than going to Cincinnati.

It's a great ballpark!

The Pirates offense has gone a span of 79 plate appearances and counting without back to back hits.
Haven't had back to back hits since the first inning, two games ago.

I wonder if coaching in the future will include continuing the play until you know all possibilities are taken care of. If Cozart had stepped on 2nd and chased Jaso down as he trotted back to the dugout, then they could have gotten a double play there.

Big Klu

Squeeze bunt. 2-1 Pirates.

2 runs on a walk, a double that Billy could have had (although I'm not calling him out - it was a difficult play, a can of corn sac fly and a bunt. Disco dinked to death.

Ross would be a solid reliever this year if he could keep the ball in the yard. But he can't, so he isn't.

A 7 run lead wouldn't be large enough for Ohlendorf. At least this prevent us from another 4 hour loss.

Cubs DFAed Joe Nathan today. His first choice would probably be a contender, but if he'd come here I'd pick him up to mentor the youngsters and munch some relief innings.

Jim Day asked Price if he has ever seen anything like the number of first-batter HR's given up by the bullpen. He said that has a really good answer for that question but it probably wouldn't be able to be broadcast on the air, so he would leave that question alone.

Mutaman yesterday:

"Tomorrow night when Ohlendoroff comes in for the 8th inning and blows a one run lead we should both man up and not say a word. its "rebuilding". "

Nuff said.

just finished the recorded game.....who didn't know that was gonna happen? I feel like Lorenzen HAS to walk the leadoff guy(but not tonight, thank you) and Ohlendorf thinks it's a rule to give one up to the leadoff hitter
