Standard statement that some of these are small sample sizes that are not statistically relevant, this thread is for fun, not analysis.

Bryan Pena has been hurt pretty much all year.

Mike Leake: 4.78 ERA, FIP 3.97 (This difference of 0.81 is the largest of his career. Prior to this year, Leake had one year where FIP was .16 greater than ERA, every other year, his ERA was less than his FIP)

Broxton: 4.53 ERA, FIP 4.26 WHIP: 1.32

Jay Bruce is OPSing 530 as a Met. So far, looks like a good move to shake him off.

Cueto: 2.97 ERA, leading league with 4 GG.

Fill in the other ones that I left off.

Tomko?

BTW, you're saying FIP greater than ERA once, then next sentence saying all FIPS greater than ERA (ERA less than FIP).

It really does seem like Leake is just a victim of bad luck this year as the LOB % is what is killing him along with his highest BABIP since his rookie year. But of course such are the perils of relying on hitters to put the ball in play.

Brett Tomko?

Tomko threw two shutout innings in the NBC World Series last week in Wichita. His team lost in the semifinals in 17 innings, though. Tim Hudson and Jason Marquis blew it.

Man, I zoned out.. it is Leake, not Tomko..
I corrected it.

I wonder if we are seeing proof with Leake that the Reds elite defense helped him.
Good defense makes a pitcher a lot luckier.

choo is back with Texas, having an awful year

Hamilton is injured for all of 2016. I feel like he retires next year too. Hell, maybe not. Anaheim is still paying for him.

Edwin should be a MVP contender. What he's done
Over the last 5 years has been top 10 in the game offensively

Navarro is doing well with Sox

Pena. No idea but he's on Cards

Madson is pitching well

Boxberger. No clue

Grandal. Good

Alonso. Awful

Latos. Unemployed.

Joe Randa. Retired.

Navarro is doing well with Sox (.209, .268, .336) A .604 OPS would not be considered good.

Pena. No idea but he's on Cards (hurt all year)

Madson is pitching well (ERA: 3.51, WHIP: 1.223, FIP: 4.39. I would say those do not qualify as good.

Boxberger. No clue (just returned to pitching a few games ago)

Grandal. Good (.227, .345, .472 with 18 dongers)

Alonso. Awful (258, .316. .365)

Latos. Unemployed.

Joe Randa. Retired.[/QUOTE]

Sorry to hear that. I always liked him. He's always been a magnet for HBP's.

Wait, what?!? I thought the Reds always got rid of all their good players, because they didn't want to pay them? So it looks like they got rid of one good player, that there is no way they could afford.

Bluto's right...psychotic, but absolutely right. We gotta take these bastards. Now we could do it with conventional weapons, but that could take years and cost millions of lives. No, I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part.

That somebody would be the Germans. We all know what they did to Pearl Harbor while the Japanese were being mauled at Stalingrad.

Frazier's stats are quite interesting...he has has a chance to hit 40 HR's and bat under .200! Has anyone ever accomplished that before? Couldn't find an example in my BR search of Kingman, Dunn, Deer, Dean Palmer, Mark Reynolds, Gorman Thomas, etc.

Didn't Dunn actually do it for the ChiSox?

edit: lol of course you actually mentioned him and I glossed right over it

He came close, 41 HRs with a .204 batting average in 2012.

Article on Bruce.. man does this sound familiar. Thank God we were able to trade him. I wish him well, but it looks like he is in a slump again. Just thankful it happened after the trade.

http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/mets/mets-jay-bruce-remains-confident-despite-slump-since-trade-1.12196718

In his first 15 games since being traded from the Reds, Bruce hit .186 with two homers and six RBIs

“I try and divorce myself from the results as much as possible,” Bruce said. “I try and stick to the process and prepare every single day, just to give myself a chance to be successful. I know, in my ninth year now, I understand the game and understand how it goes. No year’s ever the same. Like I said, you work every single day and be prepared for when the game starts.”
...
“When I talked to him [Bruce] about some things, he says he feels good,” Collins said. “He doesn’t feel tired. Nothing’s wrong. He’s just not getting them barreled up. I told him, hopefully when we get some other pieces here, he’ll get some better pitches to hit. But we’ve just got to keep plugging.”

Doesn't look like anyone has.

Mark Reynolds looks like the closest one to do it with a .198 avg and 32 hrs

http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=y&type=8&season=2015&month=0&season1=1900&ind=1&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=44391&players=0&sort=6,d

Dunn and Kingman both came close enough hitting .204 with 41 and 37 hrs each (three less hits over the course of the year and Dunn would have been below the Mendoza line).
