Nice piece at the start of the broadcast where the Angels crew discussed the way Trout and Votto hit calling them two of the best hitters in the game. Then Votto steps up and bam.

Straily's home run regression has arrived. Two gone, then a double.

Let's hope it's not too bad. I'm hopeful.

To be fair, the two guys who hit him out of the park can hit anyone out of the park :)

Yeah Straily gave up HR to two guys that might both be top 5 all-time in HR when all is said and done.

Pujols hit a blast

For all the bad games we've sat through this year, it sucks that this one isn't on TV. Potentially fun matchup with some big fireworks already.

Yeah, but when they add up the homers allowed at the end of the season, they all count.

Straily's a fly ball pitcher, has to keep the homers within reason. So far this year, so good. Hope he keeps it up.

I think the point was, giving up HR to those HOF is not enough to announce regression has arrived. It happens.

I just got in a Twitter argument with a guy stating Pujols is having a better season than Votto because of RBI totals.

I honestly feel like jamming a fork into a socket.

Cozart with a bad achilles tendon pinch runs?

No one left, unless you want to give up the DH in the third inning.

I was using regression in terms of his season's numbers. Two homers in the first inning don't help Straily's HR rate. I expect his HR rate will increase given all the fly balls.

I didn't mean Straily is regressing as a pitcher. Obviously homers allowed to Trout and Pujois don't indicate regression in the quality of the pitcher.

Not a big deal, but I simply love that with a DH game tonight, a way is found to make sure Dejesus gets in to play 3rd base. Brilliant. A DH that hits .230 (or whatever it is now) and absolutely no pop.

Who would you have selected?

Barnhart (injured)
Lopez
Cozart (recovering from injury)
Holt
Lorenzen (?)

I agree that probably would have been the best lineup, but I think they wanted to bring back Cozart slowly and give him a complete night off. (Of course, that plan went down the tube when Peraza got hurt and Zack had to come in as a substitute.)

If anybody is still up and cares, the MLB network is now showing the Angels feed of the game.

Last two games have been brutal. Outscored 20-4 (so far) with starting pitchers going 3.2innings, allowing13 hits and allowing 11 runs. So much for the greatest comeback in the history of baseball :).

They just randomly blacked out MLB Network now in the middle of this program. Ridiculous.

It's cool. The game wasn't on FS Ohio, FS1, ESPN (any of them) or MLB Network. The only place it was on TV was in California. But, for some stroke of genius reason, it's blacked out in Cincinnati even if you pay for MLB.tv.

Weren't blackouts created so I would be forced to buy a ticket to an in-market game? And then extended so I'd be forced to buy a local TV station to get the game?

What were my options here? Drive to California? I'm honestly furious about this, even though I shouldn't be. I understand there's so much crap going on in the world that THIS of all things shouldn't bother me, but I seriously just wanted to break everything tonight because I couldn't watch the Reds get their brains beat in by the Angels.
