So, in other words they are wearing 1935 Reds throwbacks.

Votto comes on with 2 out in the bottom of the 1st. And gets on base. Obviously.

Glad the Cowboy agrees with this Panthers fan that it's ridiculous the Broncos were penalized for the hits on Cam Newton last night.

Tim Adleman with a leadoff double in the 3rd

GDP for Duvall to end threat. Play reviewed and still not seen a replay of it on the Pirates broadcast.

Tonight's edition of what will be highest:

# of Votto hits, HBP (both teams), hours Springsteen plays in Philly, or pages in this thread?

my guess is Springsteen

Brantley is not happy about how close the Pirates' 3B coach is to the plate. Last night, Kelch and Doug Flynn were talking about the same thing, and Flynn was none too happy about it either.

That's the second night in a row that Cozart has had a throw to 1st that didn't have much on it.

I'd like to see the Reds rest a few of these players. Cozart looks like he's still not 100 percent healthy. Duvall has been slumping. It's a long season, the team has an expanded roster.

Let DeJesus play SS, let Selsky or Holt play LF some games.

I know the Reds want to play serious ball against contenders, but it's a long season.

Is Curious George as dumb as Clint Hurdle?

Who in the hell (short of Hurdle) would think anyone's trying to hit those guys in a 4-3 game in the 9th???

Clint Hurdle is going to hit many Reds tomorrow

For some reason he will conclude this was "on purpose".

I don't get bringing Iglesias back in here.

IMO it was the right move to bring Iglesias back.

First off, he's Iglesias. He has the best stuff on the team.

Secondly, if Iglesias is ever going to be a closer, give him some chances to close.

He didn't have a good eighth, let him try to close it. And he did.

Tom Servo

Iglesias escapes! Not a single strikeout in his two innings and he almost blew it in back to back frames but he gutted it out.

We're good again! :beerme:

Cartman, err, Clint Hirdle will find a way to call that head hunting though.

The first poin is valid, and normally is enough justification. But some nights you just don't have it. Iglesias didn't have it. No need to compound problems and potentially throw the game away because of it.

It is particularly reassuring that other teams blow scoring chances like that in the 9th.

We just watch our team every game, so it seems like it is only us that fails like that.

And by us and we, I mean 'they' and 'them';)

Iglesias has to learn to pitch when he doesn't have his best stuff. And if he's going to close, he needs to face those situations.

I thought it was the one pure "rebuilding" move of the night, to let Iglesias pitch the ninth. That's how you train a potential closer. It involved a degree of risk, true.

Exactly, I see a lot of west coast games and the Giants have been churning out bad relief for weeks

What do I know, but it seems pretty clear that something is wrong with Inglaias, comparing the way he was pitching with the way he is pitching. So, why have him pitch two innings? Indeed, considering where things are at , why pitch him at all?
Granted Price knows a million times more about this than I do, but my record (0-0) is a lot better than Price's.

I'm sort of rooting for the Giants because of JC and I think they should have mortgaged their entire organization to get Chapman. Guess it would have been pretty hard to match the Cub's offer.
